It will change the voltage by .002 or so and add 2-3 seconds. Cells dump real fast when they get that low.

this was my step charge setup for 3600
0-100 4.0a
100-2900 7.5a
2900-3000 4.0a
3000-4200 5.8a 3mvc cutoff took 4095 temp 118f linear charge

running 27t
went very well indeedy, better then a straight charge of 6.0a right through

it seems the step charge makes the cells wake up

If you run every week or 2nd week you can keep them stored at 5.40 volts.

Some say deadshorting works well on the 3800 and others have said the opposite. Just to be safe I would not deadshort them until we have more feedback.

Danny/SMC:: Would charging 7 amps be fine with 3800? Runtime is not an issue as I only run stock.

I was wondering what are some the numbers seen on a fully charged 3800 as far as capacity. Example: I would get as high as 4200mah on a good set of 3300's.

1. What all chargers are capable of step charging?
2. Are any of them affordable?
3. I am still using a Victor IQ that is upgraded to the Maxtec 3000 nimh.
4. Any advice on using this charger with IB's?

I wouldnt pay much attention as to what goes into the cells anthing over 3800 will be good. You want to pay more attention to what you get out of them on a discharge. If you get anywhere near 3800 you are heading in the right direction.

Some of our drivers have used 7 and 8 amps with good results. Just make sure to use the lowest possible peak detect wihtout getting flase peaks.

The mAh rating you get while charging isn't always the true capacity of the cell. The only true way to measure a cells capacity is under discharge.

A deadshorted 3300 will be peak in the 3900-4000 mAh while a non deadhsorted one will peak in the 3400-3500 range. Under discharge a deadshorted 3300 will have 330 seconds of runtime at 35 amps and non deadshorted one will have 355 or so.

Default IB3800

What is the highest voltage seen on these cells? I realize everyone has a different method for matching, so any rough estimates are good. I use GP 3300's that are 1.85 volts now, and curious to know if I am missing out on anything for stock racing.

A cut and paste from another thread.....

dropping like a stone so I figure it might get a quicker reply here lol.

"I have the chance to buy some new cells either GP 3700 (unmatched) or IB 3600 (matched).

The matched packs are 35amp 1.160+ (or better) not that the numbers mean much to me lol.

Anyway not having experience with either batteries I'm just wondering which would be a better choice?

I know why matched is supposed to be better but in this case I'm trying to compare different capacities/brands etc.

Thanks in advance."

Additional: I can't ask anybody in my local club about them because as far as I know if I got the IBs they would be the first in the club.
