There's also a new company that Toni Rheinard has been working with that makes some in Tamiya blue. I was just suggesting the HPI's because they are cheap and a perfect fit.

Haven't heard Toni mention that, but I will ask him. If not Gonzo is very reliable in case anyone would like a better retainer (than original Tamiya) for the HPI springs.

Prodrive is what I was thinking of. It sucks that their LiPo chassis won't work on the X, it looks really cool. They have the Tamiya blue anodized retainers for HPI springs, I will still probably just stick to the HPI parts, their shock end has a lot tighter grip on the Tamiya ballstuds than stock, so the shocks are less likely to pop off in a hard impact.

That's the one. The HB car uses the long shock ends included on that tree, but the shorter ones are almost the same size as ours, and fit our ballstuds perfectly.

the tamiya stock shock end are a common thing i make do as it does pop off upon impact. u have a pic of that i go to LHS to look for it. thanks.

Just remember, those shock ends will only work with the HPI retainers, which only work with the HPI springs. You will still need your stock parts to run Tamiya springs.

btw, know of any good lipo trays? Tired of taping/gluing my lead weights to the battery.

Looks good. I read that this tray was designed for the WE so the batt sits further forward on the original 416. You need a few modifications to fit also. Anyone tried this on the X?

How does one tape the pack into that?

I used to use a bitty design tray, they are pretty neat and they weigh 60g which is good for balance. With my new car I switched back to not using a tray and I think the car changes directions a little better with the weight more centred
