top 21.5T motor for on road
Looking to get a 21.5T motor for on road. I am trying to stay away from spending $140 and higher for a motor.
I am not familiar with 21.5T motors since I mostly race in the 17.5T class in off road 2wd buggy.
I have tried in 17.5T Tekin Spec R, R1 V21, XFactor.... so far my favorites are the tekin and xfactor.
I am also curious about the SMC low rider for 21.5t.
I am running a R1 V16 21.5T right now. Running at 3.77 FDR. Car is lacking a bit of punch (100/45 gearing)
Would appreciate inputs thx.

I can vouch for the Surpass V4s. I run them 25.5T and 8.5T. Both are strong when timed to 5.5-6 amps. The 8.5T has scary punch!!

Id go with the V21. I just switched both my 17.5 and 13.5 buggies to them after running the monster max and reedy S+ motors in them and am loving the difference.
The V16 is a good motor but there's a new gen of motors that are just plain faster and R1 is still right there with them.
The low rider looks interesting. Ive seen a few people say its fast. Sounds like its competitive with the latest motors but I haven't driven one myself.

its easier to find a motor and adjust the gearing to keep the motor in the sweet spot for each track.
a motor with lots of low end torque and efficiency could perform well on a short track or a motor with lots of mid or high rpm torque for a long track but you would need 3 motors or something that is a compromise. to pick a motor per track you would need dyno curves and the ability to calculate average speeds of each track. its not for the the faint hearted.
have fun and get a good motor you can afford. if you want the right motor and gearing for a specific track ask about a specific track probabably at the track.
or calculate the average speed per lap of the track and pick a motor that emphasizes torque in the area you want. Then calculate the FDR and roll out.
