Default Oval racers, 4 kinds of crazy?

ok, so I've been running onroad foam 1/10th and 1/12th. I'm looking at oval cars with different compound wheels on each corner and different sauce for each tire. tell me, is this the way of oval or was I just looking at an oddball?

it doesn't matter what you race.. if people think something will help you go faster people will try it. turning left and right kinda limits you from doing things differently from side to side of the car. the oval guys kinda stand out on the 'weirdness' because they generally have 2 corners. you cant screw up and make up for it elsewhere so anything you can do in the pits to overcome your abilities, or lack thereof, is sought after more ferverently.

the general tire rule is 3 of the same compound and a harder right front.

When I was running oval a year or so ago I always ran 4 different compound tires with 2 different traction compounds. Then you throw stager into the whole mess with 2 different front springs and shimming of the king pins as the track changes threw the day.

I've run three different compounds on a 1/8th onroad car before. It's not a normal thing but when you run a 40 min main on an extremely abrasive and slick parking lot track and don't have the pit people to do tire changes you have to figure out some way to even out tire wear and find grip.

37's on the left, 35 right front, 32 right rear. Won the race with it.

ok, as much as the whole concept just baffles me, I get it. with at least 1 hard foam on the front right side, you can get through a run without destroying that tire. changes to the other 3 corners allows you to adapt. Granted, I still believe (in my ignorant opinion) that 1 compound should be enough with the right setup.... I get it.

What I don't get is the near dependance on BSR tires..... Do you find a true difference between jaco and bsr?

this is what I've been hearing from the local oval racers.... what I don't understand is if it is just a perception or fact. I say this because bsr gets their foam from jaco.....

BSR seems to cater more to the oval crowd. More of their promotional activities and what not are directed at the oval racer where as Jaco goes after the on road market.
