I run stock...my car is geared with a 98/50 spur/pinion combination...I purchased the flex motor mount and the pinion hit the new inside upright that supports the front of the motor plate and also attaches to the top deck. I did not want to change to a smaller spur/pinion combo so I replaced the new upright with the stock one. I was advised that this could be a issue. So now I will put a smaller spur/pinion on so I can use the new support..

The you said whatever about 25.5 and 21.5 which had nothing to do with my issue. Then I said whatever I did in response.

My point about the 106 spur and reason for not wanting to use a smaller spur is because I am a firm believer that a larger spur is better for overall performance. Acceleration, braking, corner speed. For example. .and these are just made up numbers. ..

If you running a 3.6 gear ratio with a 98/50. Your car will perform better then running a 3.6 gear ratio with a 92 /43.

Once again pinion size was made up. Don't correct me.

This still doesn't make sense to me, but you're definitely not the only person I trust who's mentioned it.

The only thing I've really noticed from different sizes for the same gear ratio is the handling difference from moving the motor's weight forwards / backwards a few millimeters.

Mike. think of the size of the pulleys on the spur shaft. Is it easier to spin with a 100t spur or 80t spur. Now think about braking.

Remember when the drive train upgrade for a xray was changing from a 1.8 internal ratio to 1.9 or 2.0. Same principle. ..

I'm afraid your faith is misplaced. Running an oversized spur makes no difference to the car. Running the car without any middle brace on the top deck will.

Large pulleys were introduced to decrease belt wrap and improve efficiency. The idea that a different internal ratio is intrinsically faster is all marketing hype.

I personally prefer 88-92 tooth spur gear max with spec classes. If i ever get the balls to run mod, i would switch to maybe a 110 spur to start. 64 pitch btw

Changing spur gears isn't a big chore at all.

Got my car yesterday (found a great deal on in the forsale section) and started going thru it and hope to have it ready for Speedworld on Saturday. Looking forward to running it since I haven't run much electric in a year or so.

^^^^^^You are gonna love the car. Especially if you're just starting again. Car doesn't fight back much. Easy to drive with standard asphalt setup. Did you get the 2013 version or original? Either way, both capable cars. Have fun.

Go to ARC facbook page and under I think photos are setup sheets. Look for Hara's setup and you can start with that. Good for mod and 10.5 which speedworld does.

Yes sir... We first met at SIR for the nationals, I was up there with Javier arroyo... . And we've run into each other at a few other races I believe.
