Review or Opinion: Team Orion .12 ROAR
Does anyone have any experience w/ this motor. Anyone know who actually makes it for Orion? Was thinking about putting this in my R40.
80051 Team Orion .12 ROAR - Rear exhaust, SG shaft, Slide Carburator
RPM: 37,000 - HP: 1.45 Bore: 13.8 - Stroke: 14.0
Orion Wasp .12 ROAR
FEATURES: Rear round exhaust opening with rubber gasket installed.
Slide valve carb insures good on-road performance (see COMMENTS).
Crankshaft is threaded on inside for pilot shaft clutch
applications.
INCLUDES: One Wasp .12 Roar Nitro Powered Engine with slide valve carburetor,
pinch bolt and nut for attaching carb, parts list and instruction
sheet.
REQUIRES: Medium temperature glow plug.
Tuned Pipe.
Header, depends on type and brand of vehicle.
Fuel with at least 18% lubricant and 10-20% nitro. Most of the fuels
we carry meet or exceed the lubricant content required for optimum
performance and maximum engine life. In the past, the conventional
lubricant content in fuel was 18%. But with new technologies
fuels like Red Alert and O'Donnell for example, have a better
quality of lubricants even though the percentages of lubricant
are lower. These high-tech lubricants provide exceptional cooling
and protection.
SPECS: Displacement: 0.129cu in (2.11cc)
Horsepower: 1.45bhp @ 37,000 RPM
Bore: 0.54" (13.8mm)
Stroke: 0.55" (14.0mm)
Carburetor Settings:
High Speed Needle Valve: 1-1.5 turns from closed
Low Speed Needle Valve: 3-3.5 turns from closed
Exhaust opening: 0.59" (15mm)
Distance between mounting holes opposite side:
1.24" (31.5mm)
Distance between mounting holes same side: 0.47" (12mm)
Distance from top of head to bottom of mounting flanges: 2.91" (74mm)
Distance from top of head to bottom of crankcase: 3.38" (86mm)
Distance from bottom of flanges to crankcase bottom: 0.47" (12mm)
Distance from back of engine to end of crankshaft: 3.46" (88mm)
Distance between mounting flanges: 1.53" (39mm)

It's a Picco XP 12. Great engine if you can tune it.
It needs thourough sealing around the carb and the backplate.
It's fast as hell though..

I appreciate the response. Fast or not, I don't want to pay $170 for a motor thats kind of picky tuning wise and has a crap carb.
Thanks again!

Mine goes really well, After I took the carby of and changed it for a novarossi carb,
But I had the same problem with an sts I brought for club racing.
The novarossi carb fixed that as well.
But the motor goes well. But you will prob have carb problems after a while.
