I have purchased 1 used engine and sold 2 used engines. The one I bought was exactly as he said it was and still running 5 gallons later. The one I sold I told him it was junk I sold it for 50 and he was using it for spare parts. But I agree used engines are a big gamble. I would rather buy new unless I knew the seller personally. I just sold the other used engine it just had 6-7 tanks on it and I sold it to a buddy. Hs very very happy with it but I am an honest seller. I don't sell junk. Junk belongs in the trash. I also just purchased a used e truggy conversion roller. I expected to replace the bearings and maybe some other parts. It's used not new. If you expect it in perfect condition then buy new. When buying used buyer beware.

Ohh yea one more thing. Does it run?

(1) it does show signs of RECONDITIONING in the piston sleeve. There are cross hatch strokes visible under close inspection.

(2) it will be $35 for everything to get it right, but after it is back together it should run.

Lol, no offense but remind me not to buy any engines from you. I raced my actual main Nova engine a whole season and barely more than discoloration on top, much less physical damage.
you are good. NP

I don't buy used engines to be honest.

I am not for/against the whole thing, just to be fair to the seller.

Description fits: reconditioned engine = used/abuse engine.
Don't buy a used engine for whatever reasons and be prepare for the worst when you buy one.

It cannot be compare with your own well preserve engine for sure. And the price you pay for, I am sure it is pretty low enough to attracts you to buy it.

it really really depends on the seller.
I bought a used engine off this guy and he was honest. No bullshit.

Check seller ratings and look the person on facebook if you can. Don't buy anything from a teenager.

Just got this in the mail today. My Nova N21 bf limited.

Those of you who say "never" buy a used engine, I would have to disagree, to a certain extent! This motor I just bought from a guy on these boards for $85 shipped to my door. Have not ran it yet but everything looks clean, well taken care of. Even came in orig box. And even the motor I had before this one I got off ebay used, and it ran just fine! But yes, it is still a gamble. But as long as the price is reasonable for a gamble, I say go for it. Just make sure and use paypal. I would never send a money order for a motor to be shipped. Or if a buddy has a motor for sell, and you know them personally, then I say yes go for it.

But most people that say never buy a used motor from somebody you dont know is most likely not conscious about it and/or had a bad experience in the past. But you can't always let that keep you from buying a potentially good used motor, especially if its cheap!

Nothing wrong with buying used as long as the seller is honest. To the OP, i would contact Ray and ask him if he infact had anything to do with this engine. If i was to guess, i would guess no.

Yea I cant wait to run it. But I am awaiting for my bearings to arrive. As I am replacing my diff bearings, seals, and fluid. I have got everything in the mail now except for the bearings and seals. Then I can get her back together and fire it up!!
