Pinion gear grinding

Pinion gear grinding
Hi guys
I have the tamiya TT-01 chasis and have added the hopup motor, ball bearings and propshaft, all is working well apart from the pinion gear.
The gear on the motor doesnt appear to sit as close as i would have expected to the large gear connected to the propshaft. When i accelerate it grinds a little to start with and i was driving it up a slight slope and it was having trouble getting up (the gears where slipping)
Surely this isnt normal and does anyone have any ideas how to fix it.

what do you mean by striped?
I did undo everything and take a look and screwed it back up as tight as i could, it seemed to help a little but it just doesnt seem right to me, it seems to slip to easily.

ahh, i see.
They all look ok, they might be shaved a lil but it looks even.
From what it looks like the motor is either sitting just a tiny bit to low, if i lift it up slightly the teeth meet perfectly or it needs a slightly bigger pinion gear, i cant see a away of raising the motor and i dont know if they sell slghtly larger pinion gears or not

i'll try and get a pic then, i think a fractionaly larger pinion gear on the motor would work, its just findin one
