Ya I ll probly just get an aluminum shock tower. As for the shock caps, why would i get aluminum caps there just as liekly to rip through the threads on the shock, causing the same problem over again, right? What r the best (and most affordable) shocks for my nitro rustler, that dont have plastic threads?
Thanks
Thanks

no the alum. shock caps wouldn't come off cuz they fit tighter and the problem with your shock caps now is probably just from the cap being stripped not the shock itself. if not these will probably work,

or this, u have to scroll down to find the shocks they are for the duratrax nitro evader but will fit the nitro rustler:

i cant really tell whats the problem, they have just been falling off, the threads are so small on the shock that i cant really tell if the threads are done on it, do u think that it most likely the caps?

on all the t-maxx shocks i've had(basically identical to the rustler)its always been the shock caps, but if you want to be safe definately get the aluminum duratrax ones i posted or you cold get the aluminum big bore shocks from traxxas but they cost much more, if ur racing the big bores are a great investment

A lot of shock cap problems can be caused by overtightening the top mount bolts. If they can't move they will deform.
If they are the same as t maxx shocks, here are the best shocks I ever ran on a t maxx. Sell the extra set and you could wind up with a good set of shocks for $30 or so.

I got the shocks and optional aluminum caps new and that set of shocks ran on 3 different t maxx race chassis and were still in good shape when I sold them. I rebuilt them once a year and replaced the plastic ends. Other than that and the occasional bent shaft they just worked. I did use trinity aluminum shock standoffs with the delrin balls though.

k thanks, im going to give the stock stuff one more try cause my buddy has the same car and he hasnt had any shock problems. So I dont tighten the actuall bolt that holds the top of the shock on to the tower too tight right?

Yes the top of the shocks should be able to move a little. Tighten the top mount screw untill it's all the way down, then back it off just enough to let the shock move freely. You don't want too much slop or the mount screws will bend, but too tight will cause you problems with your shock caps.
