IMO the hinge-pins have been deliberately made to accomodate the brace, I'm sure Tamiya will have one out at some stage.
BTW your sig line (...Everything else is just plastic and wheels) is just great

Do you know how he did this mod? Is it posted somewhere on here? (I tried to read every post in the board but I might have missed it.)
Thanks!

Hi guys, I still don't have a Dark Impact yet. Still hanging on to my DF-02 for a bit because of the Tamiya Asia Cup rules. But I am definitely going to get one soon though.
I have a question about the buggy. How's the wear so far on the pinion and the other gears? I know many of you are running brushless setups and I will be too so I'm concerned about drivetrain wear.
Thanks

Just got my Dark Impact from Tower. With the SuperSaver club discounts and special offers, it ended up being less than having one shipped from Hong Kong and took less time. I've been watching this thread and saw it in "person" at RCX so I ordered one when I got home.
It is half built so far and seems like the usual Tamiya quality.

One advantage to the AE ones is that rebuild kits are available everywhere.

The only thing that was wrong with the kit rear shocks (and shocks on the car in general) was that they weren't set 'right' from the manual. The rear shocks just needed a softer spring and more pack, the fronts are about right, if a little over-sprung again, plus the front needed long bottoms not short and the rear needed short and not long.
Given the price of the kit, that is a solveable problem pretty cheaply without the need of other makes shocks. But each to their own.
