Default 2017 AARCMCC EP ONR AGM ANNOUNCEMENT

All, please be aware that the EP ONR Section AGM will be held post completion of the days activities on Friday (3rd November) as part of the upcoming National Championship at WCMRC.

The proposed agenda is at the link below. If you would like items to be considered for the agenda, please ask you club to make contact with the committee ([email protected])

Agenda can be found HERE

In addition, a reminder that as per the AARCMCC constitution, nominations for section positions are required to be formalised minimum 7 days prior to the AGM.

As has been the case for the past 2 years, the intention is to have 3 committee members, plus state delegates as appropriate. If you would like to be considered for either one of the three committee positions or as a state delegate, please provide your nomination.

In order to open up the ability for racers to put their hands up for the EP ONR committee, we are introducing electronic self nomination for committee positions. Please complete the nomination process via the link below.

Nomination Form

We require nominations to be provided by the 20th of October 2017 to give us 1 week to follow up formal nomination from your nominated club AND seek endorsement by another state, per your direction, or as the committee sees fit in the absence of direction, in advance of or at the AGM.

Please note, the existing committee intends to re-stand, however voting of positions will *NOT* be undertaken at the AGM, but will be post the AGM via Electronic Ballot. More details are provided via the nomination form per the link above

Is this voting by electronic ballot going to be ongoing or is it only this year as the agm is in WA? Is there a precedence for it happening in the past? Was an electronic vote done in 2011 at the last nationals in WA? What prompted the change?

we consider this to be moving with the times, and, the nationals AGM is so poorly attended - I mean, really, who wants to get their information and have a discussion on these types of matters at a meeting after a long day at the track?

there is no precedence within AARCMCC, but obviously plenty of other examples.

AARCMCC was print off paper based application forms for membership until 12months ago.

You asked, here it is.

2017 Control Motor Survey

a handful of relatively simple, direct questions for EP ON ROAD racers to determine if we are heading in the right direction with our current investigations.

Survey closes prior to the AGM at the Nationals.

Please share around at your club and with fellow racers - we want maximum responses!

Default Rule Clarification - 9.4.4

We have had a number of queries in the lead upto the nationals with regard to what is acceptable under rule 9.4.4 in the rule book.

"9.4.4 A maximum of two fans of up to 40mm each for the purpose of cooling electronics (ESC, Motor, etc) may
be fitted to the car. No other form of cooling is allowed. Fans must be powered by the main battery pack."

The intent of the regulation is to remove the opportunity for a cooling arms race, and racers exploiting excessive fans and ducting that hinders scrutineering. However, we have become aware that the regulation is possibly too ambiguous, and that whilst the intent is correct, the technical wording could be improved.

For the nationals, the following clarification will be in effect;

Cooling fans - a maximum of 2 fans are permitted per car to cool electronics. They both may be of any size, up to 40mm maximum. Must be powered by the main battery pack (direct, via receiver or ESC is fine)
Ducting - Any form of ducting or enclosure that directs cool air to the motor is prohibited - this includes flat plates, home formed ducts and so forth.
Mounts - Fans may be mounted using any means, provided that it is a mount in function only. A mounting intended to provide cooling benefit (heat sink style, or with integrated ducting) is not permitted. To clarify further, thin band clip on mounts are ok, but LRP style large finned mounts, and Techra 'tunnel' mounts are not.

Any other cooling methods outside of those outlined above are not permitted.

Ranking points time!
With everyone getting busy ready for the final event of the year in a few weeks, totally forgot to upload the updated ranking points for October, after the Queensland State titles in September.
A few movers and shakers this month. Trevor Waye jumps back into the top 5 of ISTC 21.5t with his win in Queensland. John Puse cemented his place at the the top of the ISTC 13.5t rankings with his first state title, whilst Simon Nicholson moves back into the Modified top ten after taking the win in ISTC Modified.

Current top ranked drivers are;
ISTC 21.5t - Chris Milton
ISTC 13.5t - John Puse
ISTC Modified - Ryan Maker
1:12th Modified - Chris Peet

Points Summary - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...lVhZXVacnZULTQ
ISTC 21.5t - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...DV5WEpMZFVIdzg
ISTC 13.5t - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...DNFcXo2WUZfRlU
ISTC Mod - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...TJ1VmgtVWdUd1k
1:12th Modified - https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8...3ZRSE5JRFBidEU

One more event left this year, with the nationals in Perth at the revitalised West Coast track in the first week of November. Good luck all!

Am I the only one that feels like the ranking system is a little too focused on attendance rather than results? None of the top 3 drivers in 21.5 have had a podium finish according to that document.

(Just an observation, not suggesting how or even if that should change)

It rewards the people who support the events, as intended. If you want to cherry pick, great, but it won't be rewarded in the rankings.

Bare in mind, we are also still building to a 'full' 2year, 6 counting event cycle for a lot of people. And that seems to be more prevalent issue in 21.5t than the other classes, as only the top 4 have actually done 6 or more events.

2nd point is particularly relevant. I'm willing to wait till a 2 year cycle is complete (or close to it) before drawing conclusions.

A question, because I haven't kept up: Is there a reset date to drop old events (perhaps the cut-off date for the Worlds qualifying in Mod), or will the rankings just continually roll over with events only dropping off after exactly 2 years?

It's a 2year rolling period... so case in point will be that after this years nats, the 2015 Nats will no longer be counting for the December rankings onwards, and so forth. It's not done by event, but by month. So there maybe months in the future that have more or less events that can potentially contribute (if a state titles moves month for example), but only a drivers 6 best results will ever count anyway.

It's been a week on from the last event of the year, so it's Ranking update time.

We've now hit the two year period, so we now loose our first event, with the 2015 Nats dropping off the counting scores. This has meant quite a few big moves and new entries into each of the lists. So without further ado, congrats to the current top ranked drivers;

ISTC 21.5t - Ray Zarb
ISTC 13.5t - John Puse
ISTC Modified - Ryan Maker
12th Modified - Dean Paraskevas

And as usual, summaries are in the links below for everyone to check their positions, and your top ten tech charts are attached!

As per facebook it's proposal time again.
One of the proposals is to vote on sanctioning 12th scale stock but to change the motor from 10.5 to 13.5
I would like to hear from the current 10.5 drivers and get there opinions on this.
Due to the fact that many clubs do not race 1/12 i feel that this proposal may slip through with out the correct reflection of the drivers who support the class.
To me it's ridiculous and has no benefit to the class at all.
It seems strange that it has made it's way into a proposal without a poll or survey.
Could we also have the proposals and results of the current motor survey posted on here to benefit those who do not have facebook.

No idea why they haven't posted on here I suspect 'tryhard' and 'cplus' being told sharing an anonymous id "aarcmcc ep on road" being against site rules, feel the best action is to ignore rctech, I don't see why they can't post as themselves, no secret their role on the aarcmcc committees but it's not up to me, but I agree with you on the 1/12 scale thing. 10.5 blinky is what they have been running at precc here as well, it works.

Plenty of spirited discussion on their facebook page, or just share it on your club's facebook site and say you disagree with something in the comments, they'll chime in soon enough. Big Brother is watching
