Default Losi Starter Box Q

Looking for a cheap reliable starter box and the losi red and blue ones seemed to fit the bill. The red is for Truggy and Blue for Buggy? is there really a difference? Can it run off of a 14.8v lipo and not fry motor? Any better/lighter ones out there for the money you would recommend instead?

Nope, the blue aluminum one. Its $89 or dynamite makes one like it for a little less.

I have 1 ofna truggy box with all the wires replaced to deans wet noodle and all the connectors soldiered and I have another that all I did is solider on a deans connector and put a 4s battery in, cant really tell the difference they both work very well. The 1st box is going on 20 months all original parts.

Nothing wrong with the Losi box. I personally use the OFNA Blue truggy box. (Works for buggy too)

i think OP was asking about red and blue losi boxes. there isn't a difference. one was for buggy RTR, and one was in the truggy RTR...

they're the same box. both have slides, and pegs to setup for your chassis.. red and blue are identical.

i use the red box, got off ebay after i bought a roller.. on a 3S, and no issue bumping over.

Jason, what are you trying to start? The 8ight box was designed for the Losi because a lot of boxes won't work with it (I had an Ofna chrome top and another AE (I think?) box that won't. Unless you've switched to Losi, you have a lot more options. Wish I'd known, I just sold the Ofna chrome top for $25 with stick packs in it.

Here's what i hate about the blue ofna box. Guys that run 2 classes, buggy and truggy, and then don't set up the pins so you can just drop the car on. I hate pitting for those guys. If they flame it takes forever to figure out their box. The losi box at least has a quick change pin thingy to go from buggy to truggy. Maybe someone figured out how to make one for ofna?

Jason, lemme see what's up with my Ofna box. The guy I sold it to was buying a never been used 777 with a never fired up VZB, Air 358 servos, etc. He needed to make complete deal with his neighbor for the car before he needed box for sure, so I'll check.

i still have the losi box that came w/my 2nd 2.0B. very disappointed. things mustve changed since the 2.0B RTR i had the summer before last b/c that was clockwork. this joker blew the teeth portion of the pulley gear right off destroyed enough of the belt to be considered trash. that was on the 1st start of a fresh 350. went out and bought a truggy box. end of story. still have that new box w/the repair parts from horizon sittin in the original box. perhaps i'll give i to someone gettin started or down on their luck 1 day.
