yes, it would be nice if proline would explain these foams and there differences as opposed to saying they are just all the best.

which are stiffer? softer? what is the good default to start with?

as I understand there is a blue version, black version and another blue version?.

All proline tires now come with blue foams however they are not their blue closed cell foam. This foam is the old style molded foam. Same foam that has been included with their VTR truggy tires from day one. If you want closed cell foams, you will still have to buy them separately. They do sell the tires without any foams as well so you can choose which foams to run. I myself like their black EVO 2 closed cell foams.

you guys are funny.

all tires now include the new Blue molded foam. It is different from the grey foam and also it is molded to form the inside of the tire better with the grooves and overall shape. It lasts MUCH LONGER than the old grey foam and is not prone to tearing.

*note though that I personally have never had a problem with the grey foam. i thought it was fine

From my under standing here is how the current line up of foams go in terms of hardness:

Softest ---> Hardest

Blue Molded Foam----->Black Evo Closed Cell------->Blue Closed Cell

and note that the EVO and the std. blue closed cell are pretty close and most people cant really tell a difference when holding them in their hand.

hope this helps to explain a little bit.
