Decent Base Setup
Hi Guys/Gals! This will be my first post here. Been lurking here for a while and wanna start bugging the experts here for advices...
I know this topic has been asked for hundreds of times here, but I would like to know more into details without reading 700+ pages one by one....
Need to know the basic setup everyone are going with.... I've searched and concluded that most are starting with Chicky's setup. There are two versions of Chicky's setup, 2011 and 2012, which one is easier to start with?
The track I am running most is hard packed with high bite semi wet loose dirt in the morning, but turns to dry loose dirt after 11 AM. Very tight technical track with lots of 180 tight turns, very bumpy with lots of timed jumps.
Due to the lack of support for Serpent parts where I live, I am forced to adapt Chicky's setup to what I have right now. Chicky's 2012 setup calls for RR-RR LR rear arm plate, I don't have that at the moment, only have normal RR-RR plate, Chicky's setup needs Red F spring, I only have Pink and Purple at the moment. It also calls for 2.5mm Rear Swaybar, I only have 2.3mm rear at the moment. What kind changes I could make to have my car running closest to Chicky's base setup? I can order everything from Amain easy, but with shipping+tax price will be doubled when it reach me, so I cannot afford to do blind testing... I wanna try to get as close as possible to Chicky's base setup, with what I have, then work from there.
Please educate me masters...Many thanks from the warm tropical side of the world...

This will be my first post here..So peace...LOL!! I have been lurking here for a while, been reading a lot of the setup here, came to the problem that I am having right now and decided to ask. The topic has been discussed for hundreds of time probably, but browsing 700+ pages ain't no fun for me...
I just acquired a pre owned 811 V2 with many upgrades. I just completed re clean, inspect and building the whole thing. Did a test drive yesterday, I could see a whole lot of potential in the car, but the car is as twitchy as hell and really hard to drive....
Current Setup that come with pre owned car as follow:
-FR Shock 500 oil, 25% rebound, 6 hole 1.1mm, purple spring / RR Shock 400 oil, 25% rebound, 6 hole 1.1mm, grey spring
- 5-5-2 Diff
- FR 2.5 sway - RR 2.3 sway
- FR Section A-2 Camberlink mount, B-3 Shock mount, 1 Outer - 0 inner inserts.
RR Section C-2 Camberlink mount, B-5 Shock mount, 4 Down inner - 6 out inserts.
- Ride height 28 mm F & R
- Chamber FR 2 - RR 2.5
- Toe out FR 1
- Opt 3 ackerman
Based on my read here, seems like most people are happy to begin with Chicky's base setup, I am not quite clear which version people are referring to? There are two versions of Chicky's setup, 2011 and 2012. Which one is easier to start with?
I also run to a few problem when trying to follow Chicky's 2012 setup, I don't have good support for serpent parts where I live, I have to order from Amain or Absolute for almost everything that I need, that and plus 50% for shipping and tax, so I don't have the privilege to blind test lots of different options.
Chicky's setup calls for:
* red Spring - I only have pink, blue and purple
* 2.5mm F and R sway - I have 2.5F and 2.3R Sway
* 12 Caster Block - I have 10 Caster block
* RR RR (Option LR) Shock Bracket - I have standard RR-RR bracket.
Other than the above I have everything needed to follow Chicky's 2012 version setup, could I still work with what I have? Any suggestion for setup variations with what I have?
I also don't get it, Chicky's 2012 setup calls for C hole on rear arm for bottom shock mount.... There is no C hole on rear arm isn't it? Only A and B?
Any other base setup other than the ever popular Chicky's setup good for what I have? Heard of Jimbo's setup which will be easy to do with what I have, but heard that Jimbo's setup is twitchy too?? The track I run the most is hard packed, high bite semi wet dirt in the morning, turn to loose low grip dry dirt/dust later in the day. Medium sized track with lots of narrow 180 turns, chicanes with lots of tech jumps, bumpy surface.
Millions of thanks in advance for the masters here....
Cheers from the warm tropics

It is a drilled hole in the arm, same height as the "A" hole but further out.

It's the same angle from a to b, to b to c. Just kinda make a triangle.

Hey Guys! With some talk of my RAC setup I remembered to post my latest setup. It seems to be a little more universal from track to track smooth, bumpy, low or higher bite with small changes noted in the notes section.
If you try it let me know what you think.

Sorry, another question. How do you make the hole below to insert the grub screw that holds the shock pin? I kinda figured, if you make another hole on outer side, there is no more meat on arm to drill new hole for the grub screw?
Or you can try my new setup and not have to worry about all that stuff
