Vintage off-road racing rules?
We are thinking about starting a vintage off road class for the next race season. The thing is i need to find out is what some of the rules are.
Does anybody know a good website for finding out what the rules are.Even a track site with established rules for a off road vintage class would be a start.
Thanks

My local track is gonna start a vintage tamiya class soon if enough interest is shown.
They have already sold some lunchboxes and grasshoppers.
I might try it if enough people want to run the class.
I'm going to the track tonight to confirm.

"Classics" Class was any non competitive, race based chassis. Hornet, Frog, Falcon, etc. The one big point, even though many guys ran them, the XX was legal in 2wd and NOT the XXcr.

That's weird. I wonder why one version and not the other? I guess I've been doing this long enough to not consider the XXcr a "vintage" car. I just bought a RC10 team car and I hope I can get a few guys to break out some old iron to run. The stock motor spec is smart, that make's em' run more like they used to.

We used 94 as the cut off because that was the last year for the tub chassis RC10. The XX was released in 94 so we had to allow it. The CR was released in 95 so it's not allowed. We did not tech cars at the race, just used a gentelmans agreement to not run CR's. A RC10 team car has won 2wd buggy both years. I beleive a RC10T won truck both years and a Schumacher Procat won 4wd this past year. I think a Yoke won 4wd the first year.

here is the information that we used at our last Vintage Off-Road Nationals....
2009 Vintage Off-Road Nationals
We chose to use current electronics, batteries, and tires - so racers could pull the stuff out of their current cars and race, old batteries would be junk, and old tires in good shape would be difficult to get a hold of.

I would like to give it a try, but due to work scheduling I don't race now so I have not talked to the local track owner about it. I have a gold tub RC10 that I brought to a practice night months ago and it was great fun, with new batteries (lighter) and even a 27t in it held its own with some of the buggies out there. The ball cups where pretty brittle and every little tap of the wall I would bust one. But if I can get up there to race sometime this winter I will run the old buggy and give my boy the B4 to run.

Just cause a car is old does not make it not competitive. I am racing a Losi LXT again in open truck. Novak gtb 13.5 a few year old Airtronics fm radio and the h5955 servo borrowed from my 8ight.

I had the same feeling with the old RC10 vs. the B4, the last I raced off road was back in the late 80's early 90's. I just like the old car better...just seems more planted.

do you guys allow Re-released vehicles to race with similar rules to what these guys have posted here?
http://www.nzrca.co.nz/wp-content/up...Rules-2015.pdf
Re-released kits shall be considered for entry in the same class as the
original release providing the re-released design is a fair representation of the initial release.

imo, there has to be some kind of tech. due to shapeway and certain brands having a huge cottage industry and following. some older cars can be modded to have options to the point of being near on par with modern cars. and all you have left original is a tub...if that
