Default rustler xl-5 question

hi guys have a question a friend of mine bought a rustler xl-5 today and we were thinking of buying a 2s lipo for his car and was wondering dose he need to change his transmission gearing on it or leave it stock. if so what be the best gearing to run for every day bashing and fun.

I had the same rusty before. It can't hurt to the leave the stock gearing in it. I will say make sure you have a newer version XL-5 ESC with the "low voltage detection". It will say in small letters on the top of the ESC below the button. Have fun.

+1...had the slash w/xl5 and had no issues running a lipo, but as said previously it will help out if u have the low voltage detection esc that way u dont destroy ur truck or batt running the lipo...just double check and c if u do or dont have that esc...if u dont just keep an eye on the temp and run time

if you dont have the newer version, i simple low voltage alarm can be bought off ebay for real cheap... $5

+1 - just be sur eto get and use some kind of lipo overdischarge protection.

Without, it's easy to forget and damage a lipo.

I have remember this. Many of my buddys don't have Lipo yet.
