i bet they were running pitshmitzu (sorry about the spelling) wet tyre's, over here in the uk at nats we can use two sets of brca listed tyres per meting and one set of pit wets. i bet its a simular case for the euros.

i can find out what they were running at the weekend as a couple of guys from my club were racing, so as soon as find out i will let you know

I bet you have not seen the races from the previous Euro champs in 2003 & 2002.

Anyway, all the luck that AE has in Europe is turning into bad luck at the worlds as I think both 2000 Japan and 2002 South Africa should have been won by Mark and Barry respectavely.

So I guess the Euros even things out.

Hi friends. Greetings from Malta.

Just to clear up the tyre business. If I read it right what happened was that the 24mm Pits rain tyres ran out of stock so the organisers also allowed the 21mm Pits rain tyre.

If that is the case I don't think anyone had any particular advantage or disadvantage.

Although it doesn't rain very often here in Malta we have had some wet race meetings, including a couple this last season. The cars are remarkably steady with the Pits rain tyre, which is what we use too.

Just had a look at that video. Good stuff !!!

Regards

Joe from sunny Malta.

As far as I could see there were three kinds of Pit Shimizu tires beeing used. But you had to register one set only on Saturday morning so no one had the advantage of multiple sets to choose from.

I used the narrow Pit's (21 mm) and they work fine if there is a lot of water on the track but most of the time it was just wet or "semi-dry" so these tires were hopeless (at least with the standard super soft inserts I used).

The two wider rain tyres that were used works much better in the not so wet conditions, and they worked quite well when it was pouring down.

I have 5-600mB of pictures and movieclips from the Euros on another computer. I'll see if can have it posted somewhere.

Meanwhile here are some pictures i took with my phone at the price ceremony.

Top Norwegian finisher (21st) Thorbjørn Bakke. Anyone who watched him drive in the finals could see that he belongs in the A.

Will someone provide some top motors and batteries to this guy!

regardless of who won (go US), i think the best part was the manufacturer diversity in the 'A'. i bet offroad would have another boom if we started seeing 5-6 competition equivelant cars on the market.

as far as the conditions....insane.
