I have a set of silver silvers and a couple sets of black silvers.
The black silvers are all the same except for how they were marked (same rate). The silver silvers have a different rate. It has been too long since I went to the trouble to rate them, but ICRC the silver silvers were stiffer but I don't trust my memory and I can't find my notes.
Looking at them now (I have them on my desk as I type this) I think the silver silvers are actually softer. They have 6 1/2 free coils compared to the black silvers that have roughly 6 1/4, the same free length, and the same wire size. All things being equal, more wire over the same length = softer.
I have never seen a set of these for sale. I got mine by buying an NIB older cyclone.

Yep, my silver silvers came with the HPI. The black silvers have been around for ages though and I find them better on carpet than the old silvers.

OK, just got them in my mail, the springs are black, so it is the "new" ones.

HPI 6543 starting to appear in stock!
I have ordered some from amain, I'm expecting them to be in HB not HPI packaging and to also not have an markings on them (just like my blue 6542's)

Correct, any of the current springs are black and are labeled as Hot Bodies with part #6543. We have them labeled on our site as both HPI6543 and HBS6543.

Using a spring tester made from an accurate digital scale and a digital height gauge, I tested some Silver HPI silvers a while back. They came out of some Pro4 kits and were well used. Some were as soft as HPI Blue's, some as hard as HPI Pink's while some were randomly in between.
All the new springs I had at that time were true to their rating.

Only thing I don't like about the latest black HPI springs is that they no longer color code them. I hate counting coils and measuring wire, I'd rather just look at the bottom to see what springs I have. But neither the black "blues" or the black "slivers" that came with my TCXX came with color coding.

Just place a small bit of coloured tubing (heatshrink!) on them - like how the ride springs come default.

I was told the HPI "version" (I assume they are actually identical?) are actually discontinued - true to your knowledge?
