Tekin Redline RS Sensored ESC and motors, opinions for offroad?
#32
I turned the timing up to 100 on the RS Pro with a Novak 13.5. Two stock 330uF caps in parallel. Noticeable more midrange throttle response. The motor ran about 10 degrees F hotter than stock timing, 95F. Still quite cool. Definitely acted like a mild mod.

can you explain why the extra cap would do this as its conected to the battery terminal. and also what mode do you have your esc in sensor only or normal

Adding a second cap doesn't generally offer more power. It does however allow the esc to run a touch cooler.
Typical Hotwire setup for 10.5 is Sensored only, motor timing full on(on the motor).
The team has some new software that adds timing boost on top of all of that and should be ready for public release very soon.

Absolutely gear way back and work back up. The new timing boost adds a lot of no load rpm and you need to gear back to find the new sweat spot. Heat is still king, but lots of timing can trick you. The motor can be reasonable temps at 3min or so and then skyrocket quickly. If you are setup for a 6min run, a full lipo run can also get away from you.
It is unfortunate that we are setting people up to be overgeared. Good thing these are pretty durable BL motors and not brushed motors or there would be a lot of smoked windings.

I wish there were more places that carried Tekins in my area. I tried 4 and none of them even carry Tekin products, my track doesn't have any RS or RS Pros either, just R1s. Is the best way to order these online? This is in the Socal area and the track I'm talking about is OCRC.

whats the recommended gearing for a XXXtcr with a 9.5?

Hey,
Start out with a 22/86 and gear for the straight away. It's a good starting point not knowing the size of your track.

We are making progress, but still have some work to do. We are making a real grass roots effort with the brick and mortar shops and tracks to support them. Please keep asking them and hopefully they will bring in a few porducts and see some success. You can also let me know which shops and I will contact them directly.
Contact Randy for a Beta version of the new software. Should be posted public pretty soon as well.
