My friend runs a Futaba PCM radio, and he took a piece of NyRod, and heated it so that it loops around inside the body, and then wraps his antenna wire around the NyRod. But I would only do this if you run PCM, the chances they will get glitched is less a factor.
I just had something new happen to my antenna, and wonder what I can do about it....I was leading with my 8th scaler this weekend, and touched a pipe at speed. The car blew over and the antenna got caught between the asphalt and the roll bar, and it was shearred off clean at about 6 inches of length. Luckily the car only threatened to take off, & I was able to hold the brake and Tx high, while the cornerworker meandered over to the car...It coulda been alot worse...an 8th scale running wild can do alot of damage.

You can buy a new antena wire and solder it on. Just make sure you order the correct length. Each frequency has a different length. I know Futaba will repair it for you if you send it to them. Not sure about other MFG's though.

You can have the aerial tube any length you won't just remember that the antenna length must remain the same as the manufacturer sent the reciever with.
I have seen a number of EP cars have the antenna lead zig zag up a piece of perspex within the body shell instead of having aerial tube. This works only if have a good radio set with good batteries.
But in the end you have to ask yourself one important question. If having a short aerial post or having the antenna inside the body is better than why don't the world champion drivers do it.

so as long as you dont cut you reciever wire, anywhere you put your antenna is fine? i have seen in rcca that the antenna tube doesn't even come out of the body, rather the tube is about 2 1/2 inches long. and since you stand on a elevated platform, there should be no glitching, right? like Browny said, one less thing to worry about.

Are you guys talking about the Kyosho Evolva picture?
