Stop being a tool.

I think that it is good that he is doing it. I know there are others that do this. I have heard about 4 or 5 people doing mods... a couple have already posted in this forum. Go to the track and see what his engines do. There is only so many wasy to mod a engine for great performance. I am sure if DR gets back into racing and does engines then everyone will flock back to him but since he is out then we need more people like this guy to step up and do some of these mods. I could copy DR too but I don't have the tools and I am sure I am missing half the little things that "the naked eye" cannot see that makes differences.
You sad it very good! I agree with you. Give me tools-I will mod engine for you!

It is not fairly easy like you sad! It is easy if you know what are you doing. But it is not still end of story! After mod you have to provide at list minimum info what was done, so the user (racer )will know how to suit right tuning pipe, gears, carb etc. otherwise-who needs that mod? How to suit tuning pipe, if you don't know exhost timing ( not everybody from racer are mechanics, a lot of them can use engine, but they need info in order to know how to tune on the car). Correct me, if i am wrong!

Yup, that's what happens if you get dremel happy

Markrallen, is Smeltzer still in business?

If not, buy a new crank and send it to me, I'll fix you up

The same thing has happened to quite a number of non modified Rody X12. Perhaps the RB cranks dont like to have much material removed.

thats basically how the rody crank is made stock already, looks like he just blended the entrances. It most of those cuts on the end as is. the third cut is pusing an already weak area.

Its a nova crank issue especially on the small ones, you just cant get away with that much material loss on those areas. been there done that.

You seen many Rodys let go Dennis. I have seen 2 myself whereas my stock X12 has 30 litres of fuel through it.

MotorMan- you saying that it not Smeltz's fault? Just Blended the cuts that were already there.

Also just because a Crank breaks. Does not means it was the moders fault. Ever hear the saying "Its not the arrow, its the indian" i am not blaming anyone. I have seen Rod break after break in, on completly stock Engines. It sucks. Things happen. 40 grand rpm with a crank that small its wonders that they don't break more.
