I’ve had the 08 since it was first released and got the main spares that were available on release. I have yet to see chassis and some of the kit specific spares come in stock in the US. I’m just surprised the manufacturing process is that far behind still. I won’t race my car if I don’t have a spare for likely breakages. In addition those same parts haven’t had aluminum hop ups or add ons to upgrade strength and reliability. I think the fact we haven’t seen an upper deck for use on high grip surfaces is pretty lame…this car has the potential to be a beast…but if you are running TCS spec…it’s a dog on carpet because of the flex.

I started worrying some when I saw the one way and ball diff as a hop up early on. It kind of seems that this car hasnt been designed with medium or high grip surfaces in mind at all catering to more the low grip carpet or asphalt.

Spares for older chassis are also very scarce. When they finally arrive are gone in an instant.

This TA08 doesn’t share a lot of parts with other chassis so it makes things worse. The XV02 that just came out shares most it’s suspension parts with the XV01.. so the consumables are available.

As for TamiyaUSA, they’ve been terribly quiet on all fronts. They used to respond to an email within a week, now it’s radio silence

Interesting alternative to the aftermarket top decks, similar to what used to be done to the TA05 with a pair of long turnbuckles connecting the front and rear bulkheads: https://www.thercracer.com/2022/07/t...k-mod.html?m=0

if this wasn’t mentioned yet. Drill through the entire chassis. Counter sink the bottom of the chassis and use a screw

There is not much chassis to countersink on the bottom. The hole is right on the edge of that centre channel. 5x8 stud is best bet in my opinion

I picked up a TA08 and have some very dumb questions -

1. How tight should the belts be? On the factory recommended settings they seem super loose, but I'm assuming for 21.5 or lower powered classes it's probably fine? Also is there any way to adjust the tension other than pulling the suspension and arms and bulkhead off each time?

2. Is it a bad idea to run some kind of spacer to use my shorty packs? I figure I can always add lead weight to balance it out but it's what I have right now and don't want to buy more batteries.

Looking good. Mine unfortunately has become a shelf queen.. I’m a man without an RC racetrack at present 😔
