werks B5 will get you 10mins easily. I ran my buggy last night in the a main driving balls out and pitted at 10:30 without a problem.

What do you have to lose? Lean it out till you get better mileage and run it. If i blows then you go buy a different engine(Which you already seem to be wanting).

haha that's what i think i'm going to do. i'm leaving it where it is, and tuning it to the track/day without a temp reading to answer your question, the most i'll lose is a few weeks of racing until i have another motor

As long as it's not ridiculously lean, it shouldn't just "blow up" on you. It just may not last as many gallons.

last 1/8 scale was an rc8e. other race class is stock short course (on a track that pretty much requires holeshots/calibers on anything 2wd) i use a totally stock blitz for. other than those two, my only other vehicles have always been 2wd mod buggys and trucks....i'm fine with throttle control

the only reason i'm doin nitro 1/8 is because i'm on a SUPER tight budget (which is why it's an rtr, also), and just couldn't afford another electric one

i do have to admit, the nitro isn't nearly as annoying as i thought it would be. in fact, the power is nice compared to the rc8e i had. the only downside so far is needing someone to pit for you

I had one of these motors in my rtr. What helped it the most was to get a different pipe for it. I put a dinomite 053 on mine and it helped a lot. It droped the temperature and alowed me to lean it out more. I was able to get 9 min. out of it.

Ses,
I'm the guy hambone is talking about,Rob it's almost 11 min since you tuned.I know this may sound dumb, but did you take the small plastic block out of the fuel tank, this came installed on mine and removing it will give you more fuel.I don't remember how much fuel off hand.My engine is completly stock.Hope this helps,I did change the pipe to re-11 as well as everything else so far except the engine.

holy crap i didn't ever look in the tank, why is that wierdo piece in there anyway??? regardless, it's now out, and ready for one more tank time trial - based on the size/volume of that piece, i have a feeling this is going to make a considerable difference

Ses,
I had the same problem,i think it says in the manual how many more cc of fuel you will get by removing it,that will make a difference,so will break in of engine.

well the motor has about 3/4 of a gallon through it by now (25% byron)....and it was broken in with one tank idling at 200, and then a couple tanks with the heat cycle method.

-so- i just ran a tank out. i got 8:37 from start to stall with the plastic piece removed. better, but still a bit shy of where i need to be. i'm picking up a dynamite 053 pipe like new for cheap, so i'm hoping that will get me the little extra run time i need for a mains

again, i appreciate all the advice here

i know a freind with a losi 350 on gallon 11, getting around 9min with a werks 2053, only changed one front bearing. If your looking for a $200 motor,
WERKS B5 is the only way to go.

That is to keep the tank volume legal at bigger (i.e. sanctioned) races like RC Pro Series.
