I set my RS to the brushless motor by counting lights and its not easy, I got it in a trade with a friend and want to know if I need a Hotwire to set it for blinky? When I hit full throttle it blinks, is that blinky? And what's the best TP to start with for 17.5 TC? I want to say its a big track but haven't seen enough to say...

Does it blink when you are off throttle, if not, your not in blinky. When the throttle is in neutral, the speedie will blink continuously. That's Blinky. You can put it in blinky without the Hotwire, but you need the Hotwire if you want to lock it in Blinky.

It blinks but not all the lights like when at full throttle/brake.. I guess my real question is, is a Hotwire a must? I had all intentions on getting one but my LHS didn't have one and didn't order it yet...

Additionally, these items void the warranty: 1) Using the same polarity connectors on the battery and motor wires from the speed controller. 2) Allowing water or moisture into the speed controller. 3) Failure to attach the supplied capacitor. 4) Incorrect wiring or use inconsistent with the instructions.

You may email Tekins to find out. But reading the warrenty, it maybe voided.

That is correct not all the lights blink in neutral. I believe latest software it's 3 and 5 blink in neutral. The Hotwire is nice for the other tuning options, but most things can be done pretty easily with the lights.

Any good starting point of gearing and timing for a tekin rs with GM 10.5 motor (zero timing) for a small and technical carpet track?

the car is an associated 12R5.2 (1/12th scale)

I'm running 223 in blinky mode and have noticed a discernible delay with drag brake kicking in. It's probably in the realm of 0.2 - 0.4 seconds, but wondering if there's a way to reduce it.

Havent mess with it for a while. But, I believe, drag brake is back up with braking. Increase braking will reduce or drag brake strength.
