New ESC Hobbywing vs Orca
I have a TRF419 with Futaba radio gear, Hobbywing motor and Orca battery. Now its time to choose an esc to complete my build. I will be running 21.5t and 13.5t blinky although I wouldn't mind having boost/turbo. I have been running Hobbywing Justock esc's in the past but I feel like I want a more modern and advanced esc.
Option 1
Orca VX3 with programming card $245
Pros: removeable receiver wire, full aluminum case, more powerful
Option 2
Hobbywing Stock Spec V3.1 with programming card $185
Pros: inboard switch, smaller capacitor bank, cheaper
What are your experiences with these esc's?

Both extremely capable esc's. Would be inclined to go with the HW in your situation just because you're running a HW motor and for spec racing this could be advantageous

I have been crazy enough to try a 5t with a 3.1 stockspeck and didnt have any issues.
I also ran the stock speck 3.1 in the enduro last friday at castle hill with the 13.5 and had no issues running for the 15min stints without the fan. Was the quickest 13.5 out there and did the most laps. Yep our team won too... its just as good feel wise as the full 120A 3.1

I will throw in a suggestion. Why not the Turnigy ROAR approved 80A or the Gen II 120A. About $50 delivered for the 80A with its card and $80 delivered for the 120A with its card. You might try their motors also. At $33 they are a bargain. I am actually switching from the HW products to these.

I run both the HW v3.1 and Orca VX3. You can't go wrong with either one. Both are very smooth. Both work well in stock and mod classes and each has its own benefits. I like the onboard switch on the HW but the replaceable receiver lead on the orca is also a nice touch.

I have 3 HW 3.1 and I like them. I like the seperate port for plugging in the program box. The onboard switch is nice as well as being able to hold the brake and have it turn off the ESC. I have had no issues with them.

The rx wires can be replaced by soldering a new one to the pcb if you ever need to. I desolder the rx wire from esc's to cut them to length and then resolder them back on.
