Default Will we ever get a high quality enclosed DT touring car?

Since the loss of the Losi XXX-S and TC4, will we ever see a high quality touring car for dirty parking lot racing? Any thoughts or has TC simply died? I've been out of the hobby for many years now, but I could not find anything appealing especially belt driven and enclosed.

You can try the TA07, it has a partial debris shield around the spur gear. But the belt is exposed. But in my experience with the old TA05, debris was rarely a problem.

Why do you want a belt-driven car specifically? Shaft-drive has less drag because energy doesn't need to be spent flexing a belt every time it passes over a pulley. Shaft-drive is also much easier to seal, with the ball-bearings providing adequate sealing on their own rather than requiring gasketed shrouds over the belts and pulleys.

shaft drive been known to flex chassis more under acceleration so if he is going mod might be worth sticking to belt but then if just car park bashing could get away with shaft as not as important as racing

Correct: Belt for 17.5 and less where shaft is good for 21.5 or 25.5. All due to chassis flex.

I think the on road market for something like that is just too small. I’ve never raced mod. But I do have a xray that would be considered one. I run on pavement with all my touring cars. I’m fortunate to have a few good parking lots.

Tamiya XV-01 is a fully enclosed belt driven chassis. Although its design purpose is for Rally, its suspension is adjustable should one want to purpose it for different performance.

It should have been. But I found it failed badly. Plus the first year Hpi failed to support it. It’s one of the few road cars I’ve ever sold.

I know from the thread what it can be. If wiling to spend.

The amount of chassis twist caused by shaft-drive is not significant, unless the chassis is made from old bubblegum. It might show up on a test bench, but not while driving. Chassis lean caused by a longitudinally-mounted motor is a different issue, but there are shaft-driven chassis with transversely-mounted motors to negate this effect, such as the Tamiya TB-04R. I'm sure racers will disagree, but racers' heads are full of voodoo that isn't supported by statistically-significant evidence.

So what's the chance that Losi will re-release the XXX-S touring car? Its enclosed belt drive is a unique design. Not really any other models out there today that is quite like it. So maybe it's a niche market, but being a one of a kind type of thing should help it sell too
