Default VBC Ghost18

Worthy of it's own thread. By far the most impressive "budget" TC ever... almost nothing low budget on the car anywhere and it even includes a fancy curved sliding steering rack.

I ran a GhostEVO with the fiberglass chassis a few years ago and that chassis was brilliant. This should be even better and priced right too.

I'm thinking about buying one but I was looking at the instruction manual and I'm confused about their chart for what appears to be the pill inserts. I've never raced on road before and was thinking about giving this car a try. The manual is just the drawings, which by itself is not a problem. I just wish they would explain some things.

I was just about to start a thread for this car. It looks too be an absolute bargain. The Ghost Evo worked surprisingly well and had a huge setup window which made it good for both beginners and veterans.
I will have a Ghost 18 on the way shortly.

Car looks great for the money. Curious to know what the differences are between the Ghost18 and the D09. What did they do to cut the cost in half?

I could have bought SIX of these for the cost of my T4'17 and MTC1 and went just as fast. I mean I love my Xray and Mugen TC's but this is a hard slap in the face from VBC. The Ghost18 makes most standard TC's look like an idiotic waste of money.

The thing about the ghost that I don't see is very many gearing options. Also, one has to wonder if any adapters are available for aftermarket spurs. TQ Racing doesn't even have the Ghost18 showing on it's site yet.
The Ghost should accept almost any spur gear so the gearing options are pretty wide and I like the spurs from Panaracer. Not sure what your concern is about.

Definitely no gearing issues on any VBC touring car.

I shouldn't compare the limitations of the old AE tech to the newer more easily configured cars.
we have two drivers at our track with VBC TC's last two versions. no issues with gearing and are able to gear same as other TCs in 17.5 class. our VTA drivers using Sakura, Serpent, AE TC6/TC7,1, and Mugen belt cars are running 96-100 spurs, with TSR or R1 motors. imagine the ghost18 will pretty much be inline with their other cars.

as for the TC4 down to 4.00FDR? we have VTA racers in arizona running them with 3.55 FDR. i think they run like a 55T 64 pitch spur and a pinion near same size. they dremel down some ribs in the pinion area to use bigger pinions.

The TC4 can easily be setup with a FDR of 4.00 or lower and I have been running an FDR of 3.91 lately using a Robinson Racing 75T 64P spur and a 48T 64P pinion. I could easily go lower, but my track is small and technical and this ratio has worked to give me TQ and Amain win the last three races.

If they're using a 55T spur it's definitely 48P, and probably a 38T or 39T pinion. I use the same gearing on mine.

VBC ghost18 manual, car looks really decent, if VBC lists it a 199.99. wonder what the mail order price will be?

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/01...74486137274996

kawada gears are very universal. can be used on many cars. 2, 3, 4 bolt mounting and holes for 12 balls for pan cars diffs.

VBC D10 uses same spur gear mount pattern, but also use pegs, so 6 holes in the gear are used. (everyother)
