Thinking about getting into boating
I have a few questions though..
If you run nitro, what do you do if you motor kills out in the water ? do most people bring a 1:1 boat with them to go get it ?
when I ran nitro cars, every now and then the motor would kill ...

It depends on the size pond you run in. A regular boat for a Pick Up boat is the Best Choice but not everybody has that option. If your running on a smaller pond a 6ft fishing pole with a Tennis ball tied on the line works well, if you put a small hook on the bow for the string to catch on it works even better. Another Choice is get an electric boat to use for retrieval, and tie a string on the back with a tennis ball on it.
NEVER SWIM AFTER YOUR BOAT!! There have been So Many People die thinking they were a good enough swimmer to retrieve there boat,,,and weren't. Just this year there was a post in several other forums about a Father and Son that both drowned tryin to retrieve there boat,, a very sad story.

Those are good ideas, and sounds do-able, thanks..
I've had a 1/8 nitro, then got a 1/5 gas (hpi 5t , love it best truck ever )
and I just tried my first electric, its a 1/10 short course, because my neibors don't like the noise and scream at me ...
If I got a boat, I think I would want a huge one .. are the scales the same ? is a 1/8 boat usually nitro ? and 1/5 boat gas ?

Not really, the RTR 1\8 scale Hydros are Gas, the Actual Scale Class Boats are Nitro but most are Kits you build yourself. They run a .67 Nitro engine. The Hydroplanes are the only boats they actually call a Scale Boat, the rest are classed by Hull Type and Engine Size.
What style boat are you thinking about?? Hydro, Mono(V Bottom), Catamaran??

hmm... I really have no idea.. I think I would like to have a 2 stroke gas ( not nitro ) . or brushles... but I'm leaning toward a larger 2 stroke gas ..
they do make gas boats correct ?
Other than that I will have to do some reading on the different kinds of boats you mentioned. .. if anyone has a good link I can read up on. .. feel free to post .. . .

Go brushless, get something around $300 range for a 30" - 36" v hull.
