They are good... But also a big problem. They lack durability which is a first for xray. I have seen quite a few top drivers destroy them without being involved in a collision. They just ain't up to the task.

If you run them carry spares and rebuild/replace often. Of course someone who runs 540 will tell you how bullet proof they are.

Having owned all three cars here's my $.02...

TC5 - Great price...the least expensive of the three! Parts are available from everywhere. Parts finish not as good as Xray or Photon. Car can be fast and is durable. Lot of setups available. It is in it's third year on the market...but still as competitive as any other top TC (See IIC results).

Xray - You get what you pay for. Car is fast, parts are durable and fairly easy to get...BUT expensive! I loved this car and would have kept it but I just couldn't justify the price for parts with other options out there. ($23 for a thrust bearing? Really???) Should be an update to the car this fall/winter.

Photon - Price of a TC5 quality of an Xray. Car is as durable, if not more so than the two cars above (except the spool). Newest on the market so not as much data floating around on setups. Great design features! Parts availability is spotty. I think TOP is still trying to keep up with the demand...high demand! I expect once the demand levels off, parts and hop ups will be easier to come by. I expect the car to be on the market for a fews years.

I currently have the Photon. I think with some work it will be a very fast car. It has done very well in national events in capable hands. Also I have been happy with the teams support on this board. My track stocks TOP parts and we have 2 team drivers locally. If you have the parts and support for any of the cars mentioned you'll be in good hands.

I have one myself and absolutely love the car. Parts are also easy to get as well.

But word of caution: the car is built for asphalt surfaces. If you plan on racing carpet, foams work excellent on the car.

Here is the information about the car:

Sven Zünd, one of the designer of the car presents us the all new Robitronic AVID 2. He design the car with Thomas Nagel, all done in Switzerland. The project starts in january and take about a month of work. 360 hours were needed to complete it and the prototype was done just in time for the Nuremberg Toy Fair.
The car is due to be release in october if all goes well.

New on the car:
- New chassis plate and top deck which is longer and narrower. It is also 3mm lower than the old design
- new plastics less fragile
- new fixation for front and rear hub with a small screw
- new bulkheads
- new shock towers
- new direction with a carbon ackermann plate

Production kit will be release will alloy screws, a spool, all blocs to adjust toe.
Options will be sway bars from different diameters, new shock springs, a multidiff and white low friction belts very consitants.

No mention of the Losi? The Type R is a capable car and very good parts support. The car has excellent tuning options. This another car that if there was a team, we would hear more about it more often. Another great car is the Corally Phi. Two more cars to consider.

REALLY? I think that is the first time I have heard anyone say the TC5 out performs newer cars outside of the TC5 thread.

+2 - I'm hoping classes like World GT take off (rendering these expensive cars obsolete). While I was running TC, I preferred X-Rays (especially the FK04), but $500 for a new kit w/o upgrades or spares is too much money to justify. Maybe if the manufacturers updated every 2 years instead of yearly, you could justify a $500 kit; but until that happens, I'll stick with pan cars.
