Default Clearing Things Up -- 2wd 17.5 Class....

Hey guys,

There have been a couple of rumors and questions regarding the 17.5 2wd buggy class at RCHR.....

This is a class that we're trying out as our Limited 2wd Buggy class for the Grand Prix, that's it. It was a very fun and competitive class at the JC race, so why not try it out at our Grand Prix?? A lot of the guys that ran at the JC race in 17.5 are coming down to race with us at the GP, and a lot of our local racers are also very interested in this class.

I'm NOT trying to push any other class except Mod 2wd, that's really the only class I'm interested in running, I've learned my lesson as far as trying to get people to run a new class, never again will I do it....Too many cry babies always complaining about something!!!!

I didn't say anything about that, I was just playing with it . Has nothing to do with what RCHR decides

I think your on the right track Freddy, trying to get a competitive class going that emphasizes good driving.

I think that Mark W. nailed it on the head with handout motors, I know there was just not enough time to pull it off. Unfortunately there are ways to squeeze a little more out of a 17.5 motor, whether intentional or not. Mark W's idea of a locked up motor is right on as far as I am concerned.

As a racer that usually runs the 17.5 Short Bus class I can tell you that there are nights when the playing field is not equal. More than once I get off the drivers stand only to smell burning electronics. I'm sorry this is not a simple case of over gearing.

I want to be clear I am not bitching, complaining or whining. I would run this class either way. I mean come on who doesn't enjoy a little barnholing from time to time.

I don't expect John or Mark to go checking motors all the time, I'm sure they have plenty of other things to do. I would say they run RCHR pretty damn good considering it's supposed to be a part time thing (I'm sure it doesn't feel that way).

Maybe next time RCHR could look into some locked up Motors for a true 17.5 class

Just my thoughts...

If somebody is blantantly cheating, then we as racers are well within our rights to request that the car be tech'd.

I'm all for 17.5 buggy, but I don't want to dillute a class that isn't really big to begin with. I say we continue to call it mod and everybody run what you brung. Brandon has been kicking our asses with a 17.5 for a long time now. I only a 13.5, so I know a 17.5, especially boosted is more than enough for our track. Remember 2wd buggy is a driver's class.

edit: Several companies sell locked 17.5 motors, but in reality, how many of us are looking to purchase more equipment? For those that feel their cars are slower than others, remember to gear by temp and not by what the next guy runs. In my SC I gear for ~150* after 9 minutes of running. The temp actually drops if I use boost, but my lap times increase because it doesn't put the power down as smoothly.

I took down "mod SC" with an unboosted, stock rotor 17.5 and 1 year old batteries.
