Not much breaks, but to cover your ass I might get a pair of steering arms, maybe front axles, and the front kingpin (just based on what I have seen break) but like I said not much breaks, especially if your in 17.5 or something similar.

Also get some side links and body posts unless your track carries 12R5 stuff, then just use those.

I putting together a TOP Rebel 12 and I'm wondering what gauge wire I should use for the motor and ESC. I'll be running a 17.5 with no boost on a 1s lipo. I think I read that 16 gauge is what I need but I want to make sure I get the right stuff. Thanks.

Question for 12th scale mod motor purchase

I am choosing between 4T and 4.5T Team Powers Motor

Tracks to race at:

1. Norcal asphalt
2. Norcal Carpet
3. TQ Carpet

I'm using a stock/spec LRP speedo

Also initial suggested settings for speedo would be appreciated

?-?-?-?

And gearing with 44mm rear and 92/96 spur

Thank you

1. Norcal asphalt - 4.0
2. Norcal Carpet - 13.5 or 10.5
3. TQ Carpet - 13.5 or 10.5

Since you have an SS you can boost a .5 motor to a very high rate of speed.
But for Norcal Asphalt, no matter what motor you have, you eventually will want more
It is surprising how much more there is in a .0 than a .5 when you get down to the low turn mods.

With the MD 4.0 it liked 40roll at TQ and around 44mm at iic.
The 4.5 was more like 48roll at TQ. That roll was more or less the same with an LRP or MD.

I can't give you ESC settings, as every motor is different.
And I've only just started to play with an SXXSS & 13.5 in our open class at TQ, so far though, it is fairly quick, and a match for the 5.5 mod motors in the class, granted this is a tight track, though not near as tight as the NorCal rug.

Hey all, Got a chance to finally get on the carpet at Norcal today. It was finally uncovered yesterday and vacumed. There is no traction at all. All I had was purple fronts and magenta rears. I could get one maybe two laps good with being fully sauced then it was drift time. How long does it take before the track gets back to normal bite? Or do i need yellow rears for sure? I was running 13.5 so i think running mod is going to be pretty funny, I dunno. thanks

How many folks do you foresee running foams, and how frequently? If it's only a few, yellows or grey-lows will be a necessity. If you get ten or so, a few weeks should groove the track in fairly well.

You could check with the owners and see if spraying is a possibility. If it is, cut the track's preferred traction with 3 times as much alcohol, and spray the straight and sweeper lightly with that solution. After doing so, the track should groove in rather quickly.

CypressMidWest, Track owner is not going to spray, I already asked. So Yellows and Greys are for low grip tracks? When when traction gets better in a few weeks then I would change to what? Still trying to figure out this tire crap because I know it makes a difference?

Learning curve approaching ...lol

Well Steve is going to bring a 4T and 4.5T so I have till tomorrow to decide

I will buy a 13.5 next month for those times when only that class is available but want to get a mod now cause carpet here is only for two months so I'll probably get the 4T for the asphalt

I believe 4.0 and up for the SXXSS

I need help with the formula

Code:
Rear (44mm) X (Pi) 3.1416 X Pinion (?) / 92 =
Thanks for your answer and anyone else

I believe its (pinion)x(tire,mm)x(3.1416)divided by(spur)=rollout

any help on tire info!

lol...That's what I have also as rollout

Well dude you could bring magenta and pink rear. These two are most sticky in rear. Double pink and magenta ft would be good to have also. Also until traction picks up raise the car to 4mm and run stock size tires for bigger tire patch.

You can consider also soft side springs and ft springs for greater traction on low bite while thinking about a soft top spring

See you tomorrow

Yellows and Gray-lows or Jaco orange offer more rear grip than Pink or Magenta. The groove has to be pretty dark for the latter to work. In descending order of grip, at least where I race it's Yellow (most grip), Orange, Gray, Pink, Magenta.
