E-maxx esc question
#1
Just picked up a used Emaxx for my dad to play with and it has a fried evx2 esc and 2 brand new titan 550's. Is it worth paying the $50 and sending the esc in to traxxas to have it repaired or is there something better and more reliable for the same money that we can get? I am not real familiar with electrics as almost all my trucks are nitro so I am somewhat lost when it comes to dealing with these. Don't want to changeover to brushless at this point.

$50 bucks is a easy cheap way to do it. If you buy an escape rated for dual motor dual battery you will spend alot more. I run a mtronics monster esc dual batt dual motor. And 100% waterproof but it was $190 bucks. But I don't know if you can even get them anymore.

Who said you have to pay $50? Just send it in, they will contact you if you need to pay anything. If they don't contact you chances are they will just send you a brand new one. The only good thing about traxxas is the service department IMO....

AS far as your options go sending it in to Traxxas is not a bad one..
At the least you will have a FRESH esc with a 30 warranty
Thier service department is easy to deal with about a 3 week turnaround.
Perhaps the biggest reason is the price point. For $50 you are not going to find a waterproof ESC capable of handleing 16.8v unless you go to fleabay and take a gamble... Even then you'll be hard pressed to find a functioning ESC for that price

Call traxxas support and let them know of your problem... They will give you options from there... It is likely that since the old EVX is no longer manufactured that they will send you a newer evx2 16.8 waterproof.... And just so that you know the older 14.4 EVX can still handle 2 seven cell nimh's=16.8 its just pushing the limits of the older ESC

I would sell the new stuff(after they replace your ESC) and buy a budget brushless. I would recommend just makin the switch. Longer run times, WAY faster, LOADS of torque.

Under $100 shipped! Cant beat it. This would be a fine set up on 12-14 cell Nimh or 4s.
