Default 540 VS 550

Building a AE B4.1 kit now and looking at different motors.
What is the difference between a 540 and 550 size motor?
Is it a physical dimension or has something to do with internal components?
Thanks,
Rick

550s are physically longer than 540s.

Both, 540 size motors are the norm in just about everything but 4x4 SCT. Some closed end bell brushed motors like the Traxxas Titan are 550 motors but that's a different animal. Stay focused on 540 motors for your buggy.

Remember when the Tamiya Grasshopper and others would come with a 380 motor? 540 was an upgrade back then

a tekin or novak 540 motor will push your little b4 no problem.. 550s are what is needed for bigger mt/buggys and truggys.
