Havoc error code....
#1
Has any one had a problem trying to use a non-Novak motor with a Havoc esc and getting the error code that the signal wire was bad, only to find the esc did not work with only the non-Novak motor? Changed the signal wire 2 or 3 times and the same code repeats. Tried turning the esc on and off and even tried reprogramming the esc....nothing!
This situation happened twice this week for myself and a friend. 2 different Havoc speed controls and 2 different LRP and Speed Passion motors. Hook up a Novak motor and the esc works fine.
Just asking...Thanks

been their and done that, tried tekin, trinity and even some novak ones with the same results, but had some luck with the orion motor, must be something inside them with temp sensors, as I am starting to dislike novak stuff, as they are great when they work, just worry when the magic smoke will come out

Count yourself lucky with that novak speedy. some didn't work with any motor even a novak motor like the two i owned. just use it with it's own motor and they can be competitive.
good luck.

The Havoc 2S esc can be operated only with a motor with temp overload built-in---such as Novak motors. Our product information clearly states that this budget controller was designed specifically to operate safely with our motors. There may be other brand motors that include this temp sensor, but we do not know which mfgs include it.
The Havoc 2S ESC and motor contain Thermal Overload Protection circuitry to protect the system from overheating and damage. In fact, the ESC will only operate with brushless motors that have built-in thermal protection that follow ROAR guidelines, such as Novak’s Ballistic Spec Brushless Motors (#3610-#3621) and SS Pro Brushless Motors (#3408 - #3421). This sophisticated feature ensures a fun day at the track without the worry of overheating.

To NovakTwo... Thanks for the info, being a guy, I didn't really read all of the instructions. I actually the RC Car Dept. managers at two different hobby shops and they had no idea what the problem was.
