Default ESC bullets straight into battery?

I have been running the gens lipos mainly, and since the factory bullets are crap I was going to make new leads. Can I just solder some male bullets on the ESC and plug them straight into the gens lipo? I know it would limit they types of packs I could run, but are there any other downsides?
Thanks in advance.

Yep its ok. That is how pro's do it without the use of connectors. Just make sure you never plug it in backwards.

I've been doing this for a few months now without a problem. I wrote large indicators as to which is + and - on the batteries in paint marker. Other than mixing up the leads, I don't see a problem.

Related question I have always been meaning to ask....

Are the positive and negative bullets alwaysont he same side on those types of packs? or do some manufacturers swap them around?
