Default How to discharge lipo for disposal

I've searched around and I understand I need to discharge and then soak in saltwater some bad lipos. My charger doesn't have a discharge function, so wondering what's the easiest way to safely discharge these lipos without having one blow up in my face?

just get yourself a 5 gallon bucket with a lid fill it with saltwater and let it sit for a couple days. You will see the water change color to a blue tint..

So don't worry about discharging first?

Old information on salt bath. Discharge with a light bulb until it becomes below 1volts per cell at rest in a fire safe location. Then toss it.

Salt water bath can cause the aluminum tabs to corrode off before discharge is completely done. Thus causing a "hot" battery with bad connections.

See here.

It's kinda fun just to throw them in a bon-fire. They go out with a bang!! Lol!

My charger has discharge function then I use an 1157 light bulb; just using the bulb takes "a while."

Now I just feel like a moron. I soldered a wire to the bottom of the bulb, and another one on the threads which is the only other thing I can figure that passes current. Put those wires on a battery and getting nothing. Should I just sacrifice an old lamp, cut that cord and connect that way?

Not a light bulb for in the house. You need a dc light. Use a brake light for a car. The #1157 works good. Attach to the side and the b2 tabs on the bottom.

you can take them into Interstate Batteries or a Batteries plus and they will dispose of them.
