Strong throughout the whole range but smooth! Came off after the main at 217, could still be leaned a bit. Engine could outpull most of the motors out there, and at 1/2-3/4 throttle!

M2C variable weight clutch worked excellent as well, running 4 medium shoes with 4 1.0 springs and no weights. Trying TKO special clutch bearings, and so far almost a gallon and still good!

I did run into a problem (sort of):

When I would fire the engine up (from ambient) it would start a little rich, and return to idle well. However, after a few full speed passes, the engine would come in from full throttle with a high idle for a few seconds, and then come down to a normal idle. I tried richening, leaning, but nothing seemed to work. The engine ran fine that way, no problems with bottom end or flameouts, but it seams a little weird. Could it be the idle gap (too big, too large?)

yes it could be your idle gap too large. However, if you close your idle and it nesicarily does not fix your high idle at WOT and if when yoru idle does drop down and if the idle is unstable don't lean the lsn, richen the hsn. Matter of fact before closing the idle gap i would richen the hsn just a hour or 2 and see if that helps. This is that funny area of a engine tune. Really it could be A. too large gap, B. to lean LSN, or C. to lean HSN. and you are fubar if it's all three or a combo of.

I find with the werks if in this situation you try to richen the LSN you will be stuck fighting the idle gap and lsn setting. And this only happens when you are waiting for the idle to drop i have gotten as much as a 4 stage idle. And most of the time i can fix it simply by richening the HSN. Sometimes just lower the idle gap a hour.

Basically when it's all said and done, i end up with a lsn a little on the lean side and a hsn optimal or on the rich side. my werks does not like a lsn on the rich side at all so you are basically stuck to compensating with hsn.

I will try that next time-Though I don't think it's too lean. 217F after a 20 minute main on a pretty hot day. I'm also going to reset the idle back to .6mm and retune from there.

The linkage was fine, I double checked it closed all of the way, with tension from the spring.

with a gap between the set stop and the throttle arm ?

Sometimes an engine will require you to run a larger idle gap then what is needed to have a near instant idle down.... Some weather conditions can cause that, extra drag on the engines idle like a clutch bearing....sometimes a fresh plug... a different heat range plug....basically many factors can cause an engine to carry RPM after a hard pass... Some days it seems engines are more prone to it then others....and many times what is causing it today is not the same as the last time LOL........ even stale fuel will require you to run a larger idle gap, as if you don't the engine will flame out.... A old glowplug can cause that as well.......

Near new fuel, near new plug, but I need to double check the clutch bearings. I'm thinking that could be pert of the problem.
