Default Major range issue

I got this off/onroad car kit to build awhile back and i used it a few times then my nicad battery packs died and just recently i bought a new one, charged it up and, bam, nothing, so i changed remotes from my Hitec Am to my Losi, and broke a crystal but i had an extra set, i got it working, reprogrammed my ESC and took it outisde with the confidence in my new nihm 3300ma battery, put the trottle on and it zipped away with nice speed, for about 3ft, and i lost range. (more in next post.)

I dont believe the Losi and Hitec radio components are compatible, I am surprised it worked at all really. Isnt the Hitec a 75mGz and the Losi 27mGz? Even if they are both 75 or both 27, they will not be compatible because of different bandwidths.
