I sent them an email. If they knew there was an issue from the get go then why is there no up dated gear box part # for sale? Any idea.

Hey Todd, I sent them an email yesterday, too. My new-to-me SC18 is really tight and I did a few things I found here in RCTech to try to loosen it up. It is indeed more loose, but hopefully the front diff housing will do the trick.

You have a brushless setup? I don't yet, still running the brushed motor but with 1800 mAh Lipo. I plan on running it at HT and the Pit. Bill Delong and his son plan on doing the same. Despite its quirks I'm loving this little thing!

The updated gearbox has the same part number as the original because the original was discontinued. ASC21312

Not sure if they are still sending them out for free or not since any recent kit should be updated. But if you bought it a while back or it has sat on your hobby shop's shelf for awhile then you may have gotten an older one.

I love it. I just ordered a new front gearbox and hopefully it does the trick. Mine is stock brushed. I have a 1500 lipo and 4 1600 nihm packs. I read that some of the people that run it offroad are using the 18T shocks all the way around. I ran mine at the Pit for a few minutes and it worked just fine out of the box.

I too have used all rear shocks through the car and it certainly does handle heaps better.

I just ordered a new front gearbox, too, along with a new Airtronics 94091 and a fresh servo saver. My linkage seems alright, but my stock servo is definitely glitchy. It stutters when it centers itself, with or without a servo saver and linkage hooked up. My other standard servos don't do this when hooked up to the same Tx/Rx system. I just don't have any mini/micro servos on hand.

Todd, are you running foams for the HT asphalt? What compound? Previous owner applied a bead of CA around the outside tread of the OEM tires to help reduce traction, which may work at the Pit. But I don't want to waste them racing onroad with it.

I put a set of new 18r rubber tires on it. I ran it outside and it has a bunch of traction. Im gonna try it this weekend and see what happends.

Hey guys i have a sc18 with a carbon fiber conversion and was wondering if anybody knows if the Novak three-80 will fit on the motor mount. I heard from a few people that they are having a hard time finding a motor that fits the mounts. Thanks.

i recently tried to fit the novak 380 to a b2 , which i'm pretty certain is the same chassis as the sc 18 , i ran into trouble with the pinion rubbing the belt ever so slightly , this was a 14t pinion . i believe the fix is to buy a long pinion and dremel the guts out of it to clear the belt . there is a more detailed desciptionwith picture in the t2 b2 thread . cheers

had another go at installing the 380 , this time i dremeled the chassis some more to allow the motor to be mounted lower and this has allowed install with no belt rub . currently have 12t installed but will probably go to 14t as ive got the 13.5 cheers

Browsing around for a reason to keep my SC18 since I don't really use it much, if I'm going o bash off road I have better options...so I google for SC18 Drift and find this:

Has anyone done anything similar? He doesn't elaborate on any mods we did other than drift tyres and 150k oil in the rear diff (and the drift pro box). It also looks like he has removed the front and rear bumpers and changed the body of course.

I think I'm going to give this a go, any other suggestions for mods to turn an SC18 in to a drift machine?

I hate the old rc18 servo saver. Is there any way to make the sc18 servo saver work on the hitec servo? or does associated not make this part?

Exclamation Need a lot of advice please

I am interested in getting a couple Brushless SC18's for my family. But I have a lot of questions and need a lot of advice please!

What is the highest KV the stock ESC will be able to handle? I think I would want to upgrade the motor pretty fast and looking at the reedy 7000kv or maybe higher. - what pinion and spur for that? How long will the run times be with the stock batteries?
Or what is a good/hopefully cheap motor kv that is really fast - and what gearing should I use - pinion and spur

Are front and rear tires the same? Is there a variety of tires to choose from? Where can I get tires?

What are some recomended hop-ups? and where can I purchase these?

I have a lot of 1/10 scale tools, will I need to get different sized tools? What kind would I need?

Are there any parts that break easily?

I would like to make one big purchase fast and get it out of the way and have these as soon as possible.
I have no good LHS around here.

Please, any advice helps a lot!
