Rally Racing in Sydney NSW

The Hawks and DF03 are the only two that have impressed me thus far.. Slightly off subject thos anyone trying the Minis.. I know One of our guys has he was quite surprised at how well they perform too so if anyone is thinking of getting into it and has an old Mo3 dont hessitate..
Trying this week to line up as many guys want to join a bunch of us at Casso for a days rally racing as we have been invited to participate on their next scheduled race day.. if youre keen just researching or have a rally car but have never dipped your toes in a controlled track then keep posted and head down.. We promise we wont bite

Every shop on line that has Chevron's bodies lists them as out of stock. Either they are real popular or they are a bit "out there" for the square folk and they only order them in when they get a retail request.
They do some nice shells, though. I love my Monster Minis.

There is a bit of shortage at present because they have all the sudden been discovered but also note some sites like D-Drive sometimes dont update their sites quickly.. last time I ordered my second lancia Stratos it had out of stock but I still got my body in just over a week...

I always just leave my order with them in backorder status pay and wait its the best way of knowing your on the list...

Interesting thread..... I feel at home already!!!
For those looking for shells, especially some of the older Carson bodies, TeamBlueGroove are now remanufacturing certain ones.... like this Audi Sport Quattro S1... not sure how it will hold up to rallycross conditions, but could be good for an option.
Plenty of chassis' that could be used here.... Tamiya with TA01/2, M03 rally-converted or M05RA, DF03-RA, there's plenty of options. Outside Tamiya, there's models like the Schumacher SST Rally, Kyosho Alpha, HPI RS4 Rally, Losi Rally Weapon, just to name a few - plenty more as mentioned by others.
Best to keep it with the 190 - 200mm jobbies, perhaps.... if you start allowing me to bring my Kyosho Celica, it may push those fragile Tamiyas about....

lol....
Good luck with the class! I'll be watching....

No worries Alex... By the way YOU MADE ME BUY A BODY LMAO COULDNT RESIST Thanks for the Link!!!
As long as the Rally car you intend to use is 190 -200 EP you're more than welcome mate.. At this stage its more about the interest than the actual models.. we have tested a few some work some dont, thats not to say that the cars that dont are necessarily bad but merely do not suit the rigors of rally.. What everyone will find eventually is that the cars best suited will evolve by evolution itself the fittest will become the standard ...
that will only be seen over time ...As per the brands that is always a personal thing so if people are prepared to chase down parts and perhaps find it harder than other models they will either persevere or change over again that is normal evolution..
Thus far we have had surprisingly little damage with many of the bodies but several of us pre prepare the bods with that trusty heaven sent product called shoo goo and gyprock tape.. again at the moment we have not stated any cap on motor size we will tho at some stage I think settle on the 13T motors.. this would keep the costs down and open to anyone on a tight budget..
If a regular class does eventuate and there are a few of us that will work towards assisting this then the main four goals should apply .. We have seen in some cases nice classes diminished or taken over by elitism due to onerous rules and an over exaggerated competitive sometimes commercially driven elements.. These classes should be for fun and open to all budgets imo...
1. Affordability
2. large range of cars (within)
3. Simple Rules
4. About Fun, cars and mateship..

Good to see you are keen mate .. keep posted.. Had a look at the Shooey looks good.. Can you get tubs for these...?

Well, the Bowler plan has been laid to rest for shear stupidity...
But, I did find a body under the house that I'd prepared for a project like this a year or more ago. You can't beat a rally Datsun

Ok Interested Rally Buffs!!
I have just got off the Phone with Richard Baguely AKA Baggsy (Hope I got his last name right
) From Castle Hill Off Road Club... He has spoken with the Prez and we have their support for a demo race meet next Sunday .. That's Sunday 19 June 2011 if the Weather Gods permit for some fun in the DIRT!
If you have had Track Racing exposure you should already know the expectations if you dont here are some guidelines..!!
1. Having fun is the most important rule of the day!
2. All competitors will run 5 minute heats x the number usually 3-4 and a couple of finals..
Registration cost is $10 Dollars per class so just Rally =10 bucks.. You do not have to be a member!!
3. All Competitors are timed so you either need to bring your personal transponders OR the club has some which can be used on the day on a rotational basis. You can also run un-timed but obviously you wont know where you came or what lap times you are averaging.
4. All competitors are expected to marshal the very next class after their heat .. this means that competitors from the previous heat will marshal or pick up your cars but you are expected to do the same for the following class after yours and so forth.. You generally have a good time slot to repair and service your cars between heats so this is not an issue nor should it be.. just good sportsmanship!
5. The boys at Casso are a great bunch very friendly and always put on a good BBQ and Drinks for a small price..
6. Bring your regular tools parts race bags etc.. a charger a lead and a double addaptor.. Most importantly do not bring everything and leave the car or batteries at home that would be a bummer!

7. Racing starts usually at 10am so please make sure you are at the track and ready to get registered by 9am-9.20am the very latest
8. Baggsy will give us all a drivers meeting to go over the track rules before the racing starts so any newcomers dont panic if you cant remember these points!.
9. Car Rules so far as this is a new class and more a demo than anything else for the first meet is any on road 1/10 EP with rally styled body (actually used in WRC or Local Rally Scenes world wide) 190 to 200mm Bodies. No Modified Buggies or Nitro allowed. Motors between 17.5 and 13.5 is acceptable.. DF03's may use 10.5 given gearing restrictions till we can get these details sorted out more formally.
10. I will post all the addresses times and details repeatedly over the next few days.. if you have friends that may be interested point them to this thread and tell them to keep posted and get cracking..

11. With the best on intentions some good weather and great attitudes towards some fun I hope this will be a great day!
Regards,
Ruben
PS Special thanks to Casso Crew for their support!!!

Oh Shuttup Baggs

Rubes, will you guys want to run the double after the tabletop or keep to the left and straight up the hill like you were in your videos? I think the casso boys just put barriers up to decide which course they run so it shouldn't be an issue to alter the track each time for the Rally boys, Someone from Casso should be able to confirm this.
