Default Lipo Zap?

Whenever I connect a my lipo to my cars, there is always a significant zap that occurs. Is this considered 'normal'. I.e. does this happen with everybody eles when usng lipos? My NMHI don't do it. The lipo's in question are Turnigy 2s 4000mah 30-40c hardcase.

This is normal while the ESCs capacitors charge up. The Nimh do not deliver enough current to make a noticeable arc.

My $100 nimh packs would do it on my GTX esc back in the day...I don't miss the days of having a high dollar pack drop a cell or two after 5-6 cycles.. CS was always good and they made it right for me but it still sucked..

My heli batteries do it. They're 5s. Haven't noticed it on my cars, though. I assume it depends on the ESC.

My lipos do that too and also when I connect my charger to the power supply. All normal but I do not know why.
