I use a 80watt Hakko. I have tried a few of the station style set ups and imo none of them get hot enough. I prefer the irons that plug directly in to the outlet. I got it off ebay for $20.

I'd love a Hakko but does anyone know if there is a 220v version of the 888 available anywhere? Don't particularly fancy having to carry around a step down transformer!

The 888 is available in 220. I bought mine in australia and it's a 220/240 model.

Perfectly fine for 10ga I'm finding!

Thanks to this thread I just put an order for the Hobbyking soldering station.

The price is super low and the quality will most certainly cover my basic needs. Thanks to the European warehouse, shipping costs were absolutely acceptable.

A major update from the hardware store grade soldering iron I have been using...
