I too am new to the electric scene and I'm running a kinetic with a ballistic 13.5. I'm kind of lost in gearing/timing world, I'm not looking for setups because there are hundreds of opinions. I have a fairly good setup now, but I would like to run the car non boosted just to get a baseline feel. I'm looking for a typical blinky rollout, with motor timing would be helpful.

Just to check where I am in the process, I'm currently in the 58mm range boosted, am I still too low? What would you say is a typical boosted rollout? Thanks

For a "Blinky", setup, around 58mm to 65mm, and 45deg endbell timing on the Novak. Of course, your results may vary depending on speedo.

Shawn.

with my WGT i am running less endbell timing (0-10 degrees) and 80-90 rollout.

if you increase timing and gear down, you will definitely increase your initial speed, but you will also slow down over the run. you might try less timing and more rollout first, find the best spot for that timing, then add a few degrees (5?) and drop 5mm on rollout and retune the rollout. then compare those 2 setups over a 8minute race.

it seems that due to personal driving styles, some people do better with lesstiming/moreollout while other prefer moretiming/lessrollout. (just like lite beer)

Size of track makes a huge difference as well. But, 80-90mm! Wow!

Default Rotor Tuning

I'd like get some feedback on some of the tuning rotors that are available for brushless motors.

12.3 mm
12.5 mm
High RPM
Torque
1S
ETC

What have people seen while using these different tuning options.

Not necessarily, you can't go bigger but you can go smaller.

True, in both diameter and gauss.

How's it going Lonny?

I just thought I'd throw out the question. There is a thread on the British website, RCRaceChat.com, that is similar. This subject is one that no one seems to talk about. I'd love to hear from some motor guy's on this subject.

Don't think they have tuning rotors for my old motor anyway.

See you next Sunday.

Sorry Mikey. I registered with the RCChat website over a year ago and didn't have any issues. Not sure what may be the issue.

Hey RacinJ, TF is no longer with CH, so I wouldn't plan on a great job of track prep next week. I would plan for the worst and be happily surprized if it turns out I'm wrong.

Hi guys, ran my own designed Corally based chassis for the first time last weekend, it went OK, but needed to 'tweak' a couple of the design features to make it better. Anyway, done that now so here's a couple of pics:

The idea is that I can try out the original Corally front end, as well as the CRC and AE front ends too. I can also try out the original Corally wheels / tyres or 'US' spec wheels / tyres also.

I will let you know how it goes! Cheers, Chris.
