Hi Guys,

So I got my mini built, did all the mandatory (bling) upgrades, And love the heck out of the way it drives. One thing I noticed is that is "skips" during hard cornering. Is that what is referred to as "bump steer"? I've upgraded to the Tamiya steering parts, using the s-grip tires, red springs rear and yellow front, asphalt track. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I believe so. Not stated on the HPI label but it fits perfectly on a M02M chassis. Going up for sale soon .

Guys... When bolting on the optional frt Shock tower on the M05, which position on the tower is the most preferred setup position? Or should I just bolt it in a similar position as the kit tower?

thx....

i use the most outward spot, standing the shocks up like the m03, but if im wanting more steering id drop it down the the middle position

Are you running M03 or M05 chassis. I have no issues with "bump steer" on my M03R chassis I don't have a M05 so I'm not sure if the M05 has this issue.

M-05 SWB.
Actually I don't believe it's bumpsteer (after googling it's definition); it just chatters (skips) when cornering. Maybe ackerman needs adjustment, or the suspension is too stiff.

Bumpsteer is primarily created by suspension geometry. IE: You go over a bump, one of your front wheels rises, potentially 'steering' one or both of your wheels.

Chatter while cornering can be created by many things. First thing in a FWD mini: are you running universal joints or dogbones on your front axle? Dogbones will cause chatter while cornering.

After that, play with springs, look for excessive slop in the front end...maybe the tire are too spongy?

HPI Miata. It's a tough shell and protects the front wheels by deflecting collisions.

Hi, I've switched over from the plastic to alloy shocks. I've built them up the same as I would for TC Shocks, with the clear O-ring in the cartridge, except the instruction said to put a black O-ring under the piston. But the shock feel real tight! Put 500 oil in them with Blue & Yellow springs and they feel no better. Put them on the car and the cars suspension feels dead. Turned a few laps and sure enough the cars hopping like a bitch rabbit when cornering!

What have I done wrong?
