I ran my my discovery 5 port and i can say at this point.I like it better than my werks b5.It idles very well, easy to tune, make great power. It really feels like sirio kanani evo 4 sti because it is very smooth but if u want the power it will give it to you at will. I cant believe it a $200.00 engine. it runs that well. it is a really good buggy engine btw 9 mins run time and not fully tuned yet.

I have a brand new CRF Alpha MTE. I jsut broke it in and it runs great with the exception of idle. When i run it fast, the idle take a long time to come all the way down. I am well versed in engine tuning, and that is not the issue. I have checked the fuel tank and the motor for air leaks. Just wondering if anyone else had expierenced the same thing.

On mine, the carburetor gums up and the return springs cant close it fast, so the throttle hangs. Its really bad in cold weather, to the point where it can take 3+minutes of running before my carburetor starts to function properly.

It depends on fuel, tune, and other factors, but in the neighborhood of 10 minutes.

Does it have a rubber band? We always use an additional return spring or elastic band on the carb. If the idle has an issue, it's either the rubber band thing, an air leak, or the tune. I would seal the carburetor first. You need to do the dust boot (check for holes or tears), and grease all the o-rings, as well as seal the banjo fitting. After that, try leaning the low end needle, and lowering the idle. These engines like a fairly lean bottom needle. Also, fatten the top a bit if it seems lean enough. It's always good to richen the top until it's fat, then just lean it enough to get the top speed you want. Then it's safe to tune the low end needle to your hearts content.

...clean that thing out, it shouldn't do that. Use some WD, it should be ok.

hmm.. if the problem comes back, you might have to take it out and really clean it. Use motor spray and then squirt some fuel in it to lube it up after cleaning with motor spray. It shouldn't get gummy like that.

What fuel are you using?

Default .21 Alpha ABI tuned ORI80647

Pitpop
Does the Alpha Discovery 5 port have a significant performance advantage over this 3 port engine. You had said that you didnt like the 2066 pipe but what about the 2013 or the 2057, 2058 pipes with this engine. I guess I am wondering if the little extra money for the ABI tuned and the lightened head is worth it, because the Alpha Discovery's are back ordered. Thanks

I am building my NEW MBX6T I attached a couple pics.

no..just the standard Race blend. I broke down the carb again and cleaned it out and sprayed with wd40, and blew it out with some nice dry nitrogen (its nice working at an air station). Its free and smooth as can be right now, gunna take the discovery out of the buggy and put the MTE back in and see how she goes. Also took a head shim(thin copper) out of it, motor is old so just gunna see what happens.
