Guys...any ideas with this one...

Running 21.5 with 212. During the runs/races the car was strong until around the 4 minute mark and would then fade by around 0.4-0.5s per lap(sometimes more). Races are 6 minutes in length. Motor always ran around 65 -70*C.

SP 21.5V3 timing in middle
5.94 FDR

#4 8
#9 7
#12 8
#13 2
#14 3
#15 3

Thanks

Welcome to the world of 21.5 open ESC racing. You need to be spot on with gearing and esc timing to make them fast for 6 minutes.

For 80-90ft track we are gearing between 6 and 6.5 FDR.
Timing on the motor set to MAX

DDRS set to 7
Timing set to 1 below the MAX setting
Timing RPM start at 1800 RPM
SC timing set to 1 below the MAX setting
SC delay 0.2
and the #15 setting at 3 or 4

Above should last the 6 minutes without significant fade.

Jimmy

Thanks Jimmy...

Tried those settings(I think you posted them back a few) and the car was slow although it didn't fade as bad. Overall race time was slower too even without the fade. The 6.0 seems to be close if not where it should be judging from the times and overall feel of the car.

Cheers

If you like the feel of your 13, 14, and 15 settings I would try reducing the #12 setting a few clicks. Car will feel a bit slower going down the straight, but will help make it past the 4 minute mark. You can also try increasing #15 by one as it will help with the fade, but again will feel a bit slower overall.

Just a side note, did you have the motor timing at MAX for the settings I posted?

Timing is set to middle. Tried max but felt better set to middle. When fade started I found myself on full throttle a lot more. Would changing #14 to a higher value help?

Cheers

Cheers.

it does not have fixed motor timing but has a range you can go from 0* to 10*

I have a spare SP 2.1 ProStock and I am planning to do a bit of off-road racing this summer. Two questions;

What is the lowest mod motor I can safely run with the SP 2.1 ProStock?
Do I need to load specific software (it currently has the 528 Stock s/w on it)?

Thanks

hi everyone!

i would like to ask some questions.

i m now running sp gt v2.1 prostock ESC and a sp v3 13,5 motor...
the combo work really well.

yesterday decided to buy even a 10.5 motor in order to try that category,
but i got a LRP vector x12 10,5....i found it mint and it was a great deal so i couldn' t refuse..more i was curious to try that brand of motor.

-my question is how do you think the will work together, the sp ESC and LRP motor?
-can i just connect the esc sensor wire to the lrp?
-and as i have only one esc i will swap motors even frequently, what do you suggest to do to make it easyer:
is better maybe solder 3 wires to the new motor and leave theme here (as the sp motor have pin system) and every time i change it, work on the solder only on the esc? will be fine work on the esc everytime?
-last question, do i need to reset the radio every time i give the esc a different motor?

p.s. at my track i run final ratio beteen 6 abd 5,5 with the 13,5 as the track is short and i keep low temp, which ratio would you use for the 10,5?

thanks a lot!!!

i came to learn this thing few days ago!

that timing go between 0 to 10 and you can see it on the bottom of the motor.
usually timing is set to 0 but u can change it opening the motor a little bite and rotate the sensor wire support!

I ran the 2.1 in my mod buggy over the summer and found it works ok with a 7.5 motor but the question is what motor are you planning on using?? if you use a 7.5 with most of the setting turned almost off then u should have no problem but if you are running like a 4.5 then i would suggest not to.

u should have no problem with the sensor at all but the way i used to swap out my motors were with 2 sets of wires with a set for each motor and just soldering to the esc just be sure not to get the esc to hot when soldering. and you dont have to re calibrate the esc every time. As far as the FDR goes use the same one for now and just play with a few different pinions you will probably use a smaller tooth pinion when using the 10.5

Instructions say you can run down to a 5.0t IF you run something other than whats preprogrammed with the speedo. Says so ....click on the link.

Just use 205 software if your using 10.5 and lower.
What are your plans? Motor? Class?

If you try it, then you will know the different...Have you?

I can tell you a simple answer, the 2 software are different. And NO, there are still no RPM log, probably will never be.
