In the past two weekends I have seen drivers only previously seen in the mags. This going to be amazing to be able to watch at our home track! So, shall we discuss AE t-shirts and LRP power supplies now? How about Thunder Tiger's new kit?

Hi all - I am new to rc cars/trucks. I was just at a local hobby shop in my area and watched some races and really liked the trucks. I purchased a RC10t 4.1 team kit and just began assembly last evening. The chassy is now complete and I am going to solder my speed controller and motor tonight. I have assembled per the manual as a starting point. I also changed the tires to ProLine suburbs per the advice of the locals. Is there anything I should do differently from what the manual reccomends? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
The equipment I purchased is as follows:
RC10t 4.1
Spektrum DX3s
KO Propo RSx Response HC
Tekin RS Pro speed controller w/13.5motor
3 - 2s1p 5600 65c batteries
ProLine suburbs
fancy "last motor mount screws I will ever need" lol
a couple different gearing combos (forgot the ratios)
25,30,35,40,45 and 50wt shock oils
thanx/B

for 98 cents and a trip to the home depot, you can get 4 STAINLESS nuts, which look alot more trick then standard steel
i got them on the front and the rear of my t4 and b4. only thing is 5-40 for the front is difficult to find, i believe what i ended up with was actually a 6-32 that threads on alot easier actually and does give back some of that "little play" nylon nuts have too, but since switching to them i haven't had a wheel come off other then when a caster block breaks ( was doing wall rides this weekend at the end of the main lol )

I normally don't post on this thread. But your post just reminded me of how my dad got taken advantage of when I started racing.
Some of the items you purchased are way overkill for your and even my skill level, like the pro tekin instead of the the normal RS and the 65c batteries.
But as for as set up advice just cruise on over to RC10.com and print out Ryans latest set up.

NO58BM - The only extra thing I do is sand the diff rings with 600-800-1000 grit for about a minute each to true them up.
Other than that, the best thing to do is get to the track on a practice night and ask locals what set ups (see AE website) and tires & inserts work best. I've found everyone is more helpfull on practice nights because they are not rushing around getting ready for their next race.
Dont forget to have a set of front and rear A arms and a set of rear body posts "wing mounts" and maybe a servo saver. Those are the parts that I most commonly break.
Good luck.

I run a tekin rs in truck with a 6.5 and temp is still at halfway mark. My truck sometimes start to wheelie in the middle of straight. To much motor for me yes. Lol Only for the hyper tt needs the pro in this scale racing. Only because of its weight.

It cold be off-topic but it is a way for the local AE B4 racers to come and see the pro guys in action, ask them questions, and hopefully gain some valuable knowledge.

I wish I could attend. Talking with Maifield and the crew at the 1/8e Nats was a great opportunity. I learned a few things from them and ended up buying a T4.1 after talking with them. Ryan was really friendly and helpful as was the other driver (was it Thielke?). The two AE guys in his pit crew weren't very talkative but I figured they were just busy making the drivers look good.

I definitely recommend heading out to the Reedy race like Rick suggests. The drivers are very friendly and approachable. Just don't bother their pit crew.
