Default Help with iCharger 106B!!!

Anyone familiar with this charger? I just received it yesterday and having difficulty using it. I am charging a Reedy #637 transmitter lipo up with no issues, but when trying the Storage mode, the discharging stops when it reaches 7.70V. I thought I programmed it for 3.85V for the pack, but it is 3.85V per cell. How do I program it for 3.85V for the entire pack?? The instructions are not very clear.

That's a 2S lipo, it should stop at 7.7v. If you disch it to 3.85v, it'll be seriously overdischarged. Lipo shouldn't be discharged below ~3v/cell or ~6v for a 2S lipo.

Charger is doing what it should do and preventing you from damaging your lipo, accepted storage voltage is 3.85v/cell.

When I hook it up to the transmitter, it shows a full charge? I admit, I am not lipo savy.

Measure the voltage of the lipo, if its 7.7v (or maybe a little more), it's at storage voltage.

If your TX registers this as full voltage, that's just the diff in what the TX was designed to use for batteries and this lipo voltage wise. There's some over lapping of voltage ranges here. The TX 'full' message was designed for the original batteries (AAs?) which prob wasn't lipo.

Full voltage indication on the TX doesn't change the lipo's voltage, its still at storage voltage.

I got it now! So the parameters that come pre-programed in the charger are correct and do not need much adjustment? Thanks for your help and clarification.

I wouldn't say 'correct' as much as 'optimized'....

These chargers have been thru a lot of beta testing (many, many hrs by lots testers) and one thing that impressed me was how much iCharger (Junsi Electronics) incorporated into the chargers from all the testing and feedback. Thats the reason the default settings are good. I use an iCharger 3010b and I can't really recall needing to re-set anything from default settings.

There is a big iCharger thread on RC Gropups in the Battery and Chargers forums.

Storage voltage cannot be changed by the user, both of mine 106b and 206b both stop at 3.83v / cell

Cheers

How long does it take for your battery to charge from storage to full capacity?

But if you want to store your packs at a specific voltage, you can customize discharger. That is what I use.

If you are charging at 1c, and you are completely discharged, should be 1 hour.
