Reedy 3300kv
#2
The 3300kv that comes in it is definately not equivalent to a 17.5 turn motor. More like a 13.5/10.5 turn. The first track I raced at made me run in the mod class with that motor, did alright to. Each track is different though. I would bet for pure speed, you would have a bit on most guys that are not running excess timing or boost on a normal 17.5 turn motor.

Those rules are for the stock class. The 3300kv would be significantly better than both a RTR brushed setup and the 17.5t setup. You would be placed into the Mod class, rather than stock. Yes, it comes stock in the box, but the truck was designed as a mod racer. If they put you in that class, you would blow everyone away.

The motor (3300kv) is significantly faster than the stock trucks motors, such as the Reedy 17T. He should be placed in the mod class from the start. I think the truck even has the Factory Team upgrades if I'm not mistaken.

I run a stock slash and stock blitz and run with rtr brushless sc10s, and was told the rules at the track were ANY stock rtr motor or 17.5. So I was thinking of switching to the reedy system in both my trucks. One for SC oval and one for SC carpet.

The motor will be faster than a 17.5, to address your question. Yes there are better motor/esc combos, but until you can outperform what you have it wont matter. Your only as good as you can drive, not the speed of your car.

Ok. Then you will probably be bumped to mod if you do that. The reason it makes a difference is because when alot of new comers come in with the RTR kits they have a hard time driving the car or truck so they are not blowing the competition away. But if you are pretty good at what you are doing it will be significant in a stock class.

Going fast doesnt mean you gonna blow everyone away, you have to have skill. Most rtr's come with a motor that is faster than stock, Traxxas has the 12t titan and velenion setups, ae has 17t and 3300kv setups etc.,perhaps to keep kids' attention. Kids dont wanna go slow, and parents don't want to spend $250 and have them bored after a week. I would say if you are beating the pp in the class you are in, you will then be bumped up. But until then, until you gain driving skill, it shouldnt be a big deal. Good luck to ya

the motor in the sc10 rtr is much faster. I turned mine way down, the truck was hard to drive for a newbie with all that torque and speed. I was bumped up to stock class, even though we have strick rules, (17.5 sensored, no boost from esc) the owner still allows me to run, for one, cant afford the set up right now, still learning, and not winning
