TLR 22 Racing Buggy Thread

Game Changer. Can't wait to race one.
The features I'm seeing make it "easy" to release a stadium truck and a new SCT with the same options. Since the chassis is aluminum, and the front/rear chunks are modular, it would be real easy to make a new, longer chassis for the Stadium Truck version, and an even longer one for SCT duty. They should retain all the nifty features that will make this... my next buggy.
Did anyone else notice that despite the couple hundred posts... this thread has over 10 THOUSAND views? Yup... Game Changer.

this thing looks SICK. It's been a while since I've wanted a car this bad the day it was released.
This IS my ride for the 2011/2012 indoor season (just picked a B4.1 for the current one and it ends in april, can't justify the investment).
Just a concern: Am I the only one to worry about the loooooong wheelbase? This probably won't help Losi's reputation for understeering... then again, with my driver's skills, it could make sense.
Re the steering rack - I have dreadfull memories of TC3 steering locking up and then developing crazy amounts of slop, and going a bit further back in time, of Boomerang's rack just getting stuck... we shall see I guess. Then again for indoor carpet racing, not an issue
Good job Horizon!
(now tell us - Junior has inputted into this, right? Or did you help Vollmer breach its contract? I mean, who on earth consulted on the design of this beauty???)

Steering Rack:
We chose the steering rack configuration for two reasons:
1) True ackerman can be achieved and steering geometry is much more consistent throughout the steering throw. The end result is a very neutral steering feedback around center and increased steering as the throw increases. In other words you do not have a super twitchy car around center just to make it turn.
2) Packaging. The was secondary, but the rack system is very simple and takes up less room. having the servo mounted further forward gave us the EXACT weight distribution we were after. The result? better steering center out.
We tested the rack system on all types of tracks for months and have never had it lock up. it also has been tested in Europe (does it rain there?) and have had zero issues. There are self cleaning grooves in the rack to wipe away dust/debris. We have put alot of development time into this rack system

Nice work Dyno, can't wait to get mine!

Car will be awesome. Worry about the rack when you actually get one to lock up. They have run the car at loamy dusty tracks so it is not like they are testing it in low dust conditions only. It was a concern for everyone when they saw it but no issues so far. Sounds like Dyno did his homework like with all the awesome features of this car. One thing not mentioned yet is the ease of working on the car. Yeah one wrench and all that but what is even better is all the screws are easily accessible. You can get to all the screws easy to checking or taking the car apart. Can't wait to get mine. Also the long wheel base concerns. This car has tons of steering. No issue there. Super stable as well.

Yes, Matt has one too and will also be at the Spektrum race.

can someone please take the time to explain the pros/cons of running mid-motor vs. rear-motor, say for example on a 90x60 smooth/hard/medium traction indoor layout. I have zero experience with the mid motor cars.....thanks!
